I agree - Blunt's performance in The Devil Wears Prada was brilliant. And she had one of the juiciest roles to play; I think next to Miranda, Emily's personality was the most formidable in that film. |

with the exception of Glenn Kenny's performance, I thought The Girlfriend Experience was a waste of time. |

I really liked it a lot, and was further interested by the fact that our (formerly) own Tim Davis was in it, albeit in a tiny role. He was very good, though with no closeups, as the misogynist, possibly alcoholic friend of the leading man, sitting on a bar stool and soddenly raging against women as though they were forumites who didn't agree with him.
Glenn Kenny was indeed effective--very vividly hateful, which was the intention. |

billy, Glenn is one of my Facebook friends, a real sweetheart off the screen.
Brian Gross, Sasha Grey's publicist, is also a Facebook friend. Before knowing of his relationship to Sasha, I responded to a post of Brian's in which he quoted a New Zealand newspaper that said Sasha had a shot at an Oscar nomination. I said there was no way in hell that she would get nominated, that the movie was a bore, that Sasha wasn't particularly good in it, and the Academy would never consider honoring a porn star.. He deleted my post from his page. I had the feeling he must have something to do with Sasha. Sure enough, I checked his profile and saw that he represented her. I sent him a message calling him "thin-skinned" and saying that Sasha "had bigger balls than you do". He responded by saying why should he want one of his clients being criticized on his Facebook page. Made perfect sense. We subsequently had a heated back and forth behind the scenes. Most of it good humored but still heated. The end of the story is that we are now good buddies. |

And I think that in a perfect world Sasha would indeed have an Oscar shot. In this lousy year for Best Actresses, she is at this point one of my nominees. |

Marc--How are you connecting real-world style with all these Facebook friends? You really are something, you know. |

Good for Sasha. Good for Brian. I honestly thought she was excellent in the movie--affectless in just the right degree, just sexy enough, likeable though somewhat clueless, clueless without being dumb. A really well-judged, or perhaps just well-directed, performance. Can she really act? The jury is out. But I think she fulfills her function in this particular movie, and brilliantly. |

Billy,
I just posted the following on Sasha's publicist's Facebook page:
Brian, a good friend of mine, actor Bill Weeden, posted the following on my film discussion website:
"I think that in a perfect world Sasha would indeed have an Oscar shot. In this lousy year for Best Actresses, she is at this point one of my nominees." |

The above quote just went on Brian's Facebook page. I hope you don't mind billy. Maybe, you'll be invited to present the best actress award to Sasha for her role in "ASS EATERS UNANIMOUS", a recent film she starred in and produced. I'm not kidding. You gotta love it. |

Cooler than cool. My presence in that award ceremony would increase my visibility with a demographic I've been trying desperately to crack. Thanks, bro. My fingers, toes, and testicles are all crossed. |

Marc--Can you put me and Brian together as Facebook friends? I'd like to see my quotes on his page, and also to commuicate if you think that would be cool. |

will suggest that to Brian.
In the meantime, you should send a friend request to Rolling Stone editor Mikal Gilmore. You supported him when he was deactivated from Facebook.
He is friending all of his supporters. And he's a really good guy. His wife is a major league publicist in L.A., Elaine. |

I notice that my close, close friend Mark Ebner is a Facebook friend of Mikal's. Not to mention Ian Hill who directed George Bataille's Bathrobe. Do you know Mark, btw? |
