Yes, I know you're kidding, but the fact is that you don't have to see her movies. But if you said, "Jessica Sampson? Is she a model or something?" I would say you're flirting with pop culture snobbism.
No, I don't have time. I'm too busy listening to my William Hung records.

I had to miss "Without a Trace" last night. Did anyone see it? Can you give me a synopsis? Thanks.
(BTW, billy - because I have such poor antenna reception there is no point in my videotaping any show off my TV). |

I don't know who Jessica Simpson is. Is she the one who used to be on that show with Paris Hilton? I guess I'm flirting with snobbishness. And I don't know virtually any of the new rock bands or rap groups or classical musicians or artists for that matter. So I guess I'm not just an intellectual snob, but also an anti-intellectual snob. |

Those poor paparazzi could never make a living if everyone were like you, Marantz. |

Nicole Ritchie, daughter of Lionel Ritchie, is on the show with Paris Hilton. They were best friends but don't speak to each other now. Guess they appear in different segments.
Jessica had a show with her husband (they've split now) called "The Newlyweds." Jessica's younger sister, Ashlee, is a singer and just got a nose job.
Paris' sister Nicky designs handbags. The Hiltons are related to all kinds of Hollywood folk by marriage including Elizabeth Taylor and Zsa Zsa Gabor.
I saw a bit of "The Newlyweds" once - but have never watched the Paris/Nicole show. |

Thanks mo. Now I can relate to all the stories that I see on the first pages of all those tabloids I read while waiting in line at the supermarket. So often I see the headlines and think, "Who in the hell is he/she?"
I am familiar with the Hilton's. I even impersonated one way back in the 50's when I was at one of those clip joint stipper bars in Greenwich Village. I demanded my money back when I drank a half bottle of wine and they charged me $12. The manager came over (they were all owned by the Mafia then) and sort of threatened me. I told him I was Gary Hilton, Nicky's bother and that I don't like getting cheated. I got my movie back but was thrown out. I walked across the street with some friends to another clip joint, but it was too late they had got a call from the bar we'd just left. We were met at the door and told that we were not welcome.
In case this may make you think that I was sort of an insane, hotheaded, reckless type. You'd be right. |

These Canadians, they come in on the bus and the next thing you know, what with all the excitement and the bright lights... |

Jeremy, I actually did go to New York by bus on that trip. It's a long bus ride. |

I'm Canada bound next weekend (off to Stratford to see some plays). I'm also taking off next week to "watch my cement dry" - getting a new driveway so I'll say buh-bye now.
If I get stopped at the border Marantzo, will you come and bail me out? |

(Nicole's last name is Richie, not Ritchie.)
Paris Hilton is the step-gt.grandaughter of Zsa Zsa Gabor and the step-gt. niece of Elizabeth Taylor. |

If I drank half a bottle of wine at a stripper bar in Greenich now, I'd jump for joy at a $12 bill. Times have changed.
That anecdote does beg the question: who drinks wine at a strip club? That's like Monday night when I'm in line at the bar at this indie-snob rock club I'm at to get my $1.50 PBR and I see $6 merlot on the menu? Huh? |

Billy, do I have to unpack your "head in the sand" logic? Really, dude. Have you read all the Danielle Steele novels? You haven't?? What are you some kind of intellectual snob? |
