Never said it wasn't. However, we both could have read it in the appropriate forum. Just trying to do my job here, dude. I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. |

Sorry if it sounded like I was busting your chops, bro. I just think it's funny when shane and hippie see each other like a couple of territorial alpha dogs and go all epileptic rock em sock em robot on each other.
I'm a big fan of pointless and harmless violence, and their scrums are about as close as this forum gets to that genre. |

Yeah, job. Hehehe. No worries.
lady -- thanks and snap out of it!
Been watching Little Britain this week, more than halfway through Season 1 and have Season 2 on standby. HIGH-larious show.
Also watched Match Point the other night. I didn't really like it. I've come to the conclusion that I just don't like Jonathan Rhyss-Meyers. He's not a very good actor. I felt Scarlett Johannson was well-cast, but didn't do a very good job. I'm still a bit boggled that the wretched screenplay was nominated. |

Sorry ehle, but you're not the only gay on the forum.
And for those of you who won't get the Little Britain reference, that was not a confession. |

I just watched The Constant Gardner again, I think it was easily one of my favourite films of 2005. I love its reticence and its ambiguity and that dispite its masquerading as a political thriller it is essentially a love story. It's amazing that a Brazilian director captured its very English essence. |

Wow, do we disagree about The Constant Gardener. I thopugh it was a mess. And boring. The fact that they shot parts of it in Winnipeg couldn't even save it. |

Not to mention that Ralph Fiennes was in it. |

ehle - Match Point's screenplay was nominated for what?? I saw it in the theater during a moment of horny must see attractive actors - it was light fluffy cotton candy. I remember thinking that it was a script as light as air. |

Haven't seen Match Point yet............But watched Brokeback Mountain for the second time. Woah........did I shed the tears! More than the first time. Watching the subtle acting........I picked up things I didn't the first time:
SPOILERS:
When Jack's wife talked to Ennis on the phone........she was repeating a memorized scenario of Jack's death (the detailed coverup). Ennis immediately pictured what had really happened. By the end of the movie.... when Ennis tells his daughter he will be at her wedding and then looks at his and Jack's shirts hanging in his closet after she leaves...........he has decided he is going to make amends to Jack through his daughter. (He realizes that Jack came to the end he was afraid of.........but without Ennis' love and support.) |

Interesting, Befade. I'm going to have to see Brokeback again. I agree with you about the wife's phone conversation. That's the way it seemed to me too. Hadn't picked up on the bit about the shirts. Wonder what else I missed. |

I noticed a LOT of stuff the second time I saw "Brokeback," too.
BTW, I did read Annie Prouix's short story recently. Interesting to see how very accurate the movie was to the story...and to note just a few changes and omissions.
The story is a quick read...and I recommend it. |

Match Point was layered with the kind of philosophical icing I just love, the kind that make Woddy Allen one of my favourite writer/directors. The story was strong and compelling on its own, but its over-arching thread of luck and coincidences notched it up to an almost profound level for me.
It's the story beneath the story I loved, like watching a woman in a conservative outfit at work, knowing she's wearing great lingerie underneath.
I realize I've linked Woody Allen with lingerie, and I'll have to live with this image... |

Yeah, yeah, but what about "Woddy Allen," the guy you call a "favourite" of yours? Huh? |
