A beautiful, pristine 35mm print of "The Conformist" played in Sta. Fe in late Jan. and early Feb. Seeing the film again was a revelation for me...and I would have gone back except for bad weather which made add'l. trips impossible.
I discussed the film briefly on 3rd Eye at that time - mainly because I felt that the film _would_ have a DVD release.
Marilyn, can you outline the problems which are preventing a DVD release?
Curiously, at just about the same time I saw a theatrical release in Albuquerque of Antonioni's "The Passenger," which I discovered is now owned by Jack Nicholson. Beautiful 35mm print. This is another film which has been plagued by re-release problems over the years. |

Especially since I'm pretty sure I would have had the identical reaction as yours if the same thing had been done to me. I just was trying to imply that you could be big about it. But on second thought, why the fuck should you be big about it? She was out of line to ignore your contribution, so now I am officially on your side. Sorry for my temporary "betrayal." |

| I have acknowledged your contribution Marc many times in the past. That I did not do so this time was because you did not have the relationship with Facets. I did. So why don't you buy the DVD for your store and be happy for Francisco Athie and other moviegoers and stop bickering about it. |

And you could have mentioned Marc's contribution.
Marc, your description of the film was inspired. And your knowlege of mind altering drugs and cultural arcania is impressive. I think I've read that description of Vera before. Have you posted it in the past?

Taos Talking Pictures did have an online site before it met its demise. Perhaps you read Marc's blurb on it back then?? |

| That's not a bad collection of movies, heavily biased toward American movies. I notice the voters really, really like Charlie Kaufman. There aren't that many scripts over the last decade, and three of them are by him. |

A whole lot of us loved Pride & Prejudice, championing both the film and Keira Knightley's performance. Glad you enjoyed it. |
