The Charlie ep lost me. The backstory doesn't really set up him walking into the surf with the bi-bee and demanding immediate baptism. What a way to get Claire's trust back, man -- why not just feed him to a dingo and be done with it? |

Hurley's laundry partner is hot. I guess Hurley has a shot, given that Locke's some kind of ascetic who retains his precious bodily fluids, Sawyer is Kate-smitten, and Jack is carrying the Anna Lucia torch. If Hurley reveals his riches, perhaps he can be the lascivious version of Thurston Howell. Does he have a bank statement handy? |

Not just opposite Lost, but Veronica Mars at the same time. One show gets watched live, one show gets recorded. I'm afraid Bones falls to the wayside at my place, which is a shame because I thought it had been improving lately. |

Does anyone else think Hurley's laundry girl might be a plant? Or that the writers are just planting that possibility for fun?
Did Hurley really step on her foot in the plane, or is she just laying groundwork; so that if/when she's outed, Hurley will vouch for her, remembering that he stepped on her foot on the plane? Which he didn't readily recall, by the way -- it seemed she was trying to convince him it happened.
Her coming on to him seemed a little heavy-handed, too (witness the purple dress scene) at times, although she might be in that "he likes me, okay then..." frame of mind.
Or maybe I'm just suspicious of her because she played Crazy Nurse Annie Dutton in my soap many years ago. Once a psycho, and all that. |

As I posted at other forae, yes, Hurley really did the foot-crunch last season, in his famous terminal sprint.
As for Libby, a Roy Orbison growl is definitely in order for that purple camisole thing whatever it was (male vocabulary breakdown) scene.
But I don't think she's a plant, unless the plant is a hot tomato. |

And then I managed to forget to tape either one, or Veronica Mars. Sigh. At least there are reruns, which will probably also be on at the same time. Why do they always put everything I want to watch on at the same time, while other evenings there is absolutely nothing on? |

It looks like the TV gods are mocking you. They mock me on a regular basis, if that helps at all.
Don't know if it really helps, but at least I'm not alone. |

PLEASE...Can anyone figure out what's up with Locke? Why the sudden interest in Claire's baby?
Since Charley has basically eliminated any possible allies due to his behaviour, where can his character go from here? I know he's not expendible, especially with the teen demographic.
By the way, why didn't anyone tell the Others during the stand-off last week, that they can have their stickin' island...just give them the boat!!! |

Mrs. L –
I feel the same way about Locke, in that, I can’t easily discern his interest in not only the child, but in Claire as well. As for Charlie, he has burned quite a few bridges and it will be an interesting road back for him.
I was frustrated by the lack of response from Jack, Sawyer, et al with the “leader” of the others. If Jack is as take charge as he seems, then why did he not push harder to know of Walt’s whereabouts. When the leader went on about how if you were a guest to someone’s house, would you take your shoes off, etc – I kept thinking that Jack should ask him that if I were a guest in your house, would you take my son away? For me it was a very frustrating scene. |

Welcome, Mrs. LShap.
This isn't my work -- I've been reading on craigslist and the NYT, but many people say that Locke appears to be turning evil; and I guess I'd have to agree. One person likened him to Lucifer, in that he may be positioning himself for a fall from, er, grace, particularly with Eko stepping up and taking on many priestly-type duties.
I have to think that Charlie's either headed for a big fall if he has a second stash hidden somewhere, or redemption, so to speak, if he can beat the urge to get high. (My addiction experience is limited to chocolate, but I can tell you I have more than one stash of it. I'm just working on that premise.) I suspect, though, that if Charlie beats the heroin, self-esteem, and other demons, he'll be outta there, ie done with purgatory and moving onward.
As for taking the Others' boat, that breaks the Gilligan's Island rule -- it's television heresy, plain and simple.
Mrs. LShap, since you're newish, I should warn you -- I really know nothing, and am always wrong about Lost. Still, I enjoy the ride. Sort of like a crummy golfer who hits the links every other day despite the fact that her game never improves. |

Ah, but the odds are in your favor. If you keep hitting, you sooner or later get a hole in one (or at least an eagle). |

dl,
Go a round with me, and you'll take that back by, oh, maybe the second time you have to dive for the bushes. |

Like Grace, I am the blind squirrel who occasionally stumbles onto an acorn.
Kate, I have generally viewed the dialog in "Lost" as too minimal to be quite believable. There are burning issues that are addressed with conversations of three words, when you know that real humans would go on at considerable length. This noir-ish writer's trick is just that, a trick to string things along. Yeah, I had the same thought about Jack, as he seemed to fail to communicate several essential points of island politics with "Zeke."
I think Locke is horny. He's trying to fit in the Protector type of male, that some women find attractive -- and Claire would be the most likely to go for that, given her new bi-bee. No doubt he thinks, despite his age, that he's more Claire's speed than a guitarist junkie.
Like I said: blind squirrel. |
