Has Capote had any pre-screenings anywhere? Anyone seen it yet?
There was an article in the most recent issue of Time magazine about PSH and his role in this movie (they basically said this was his time for an Oscar nod).
There are no dates for nationwide yet. Very excited to see this film.
If there were previous posts on this, I must have missed them.

| What's up Chilly, yeah you missed quite a few Capote posts, we listed some pro and con reviews and ehle and Lady W went to see it at the NY Film fest and commented as well as others in here. |

I can't wait for this movie to hit more than just the two coasts.
As for previous PSH movie suggestions, I still recommend The Talented Mr. Ripley. Not sure if you've seen this already or not (i know it's one I mentioned and some replied back). Also, State & Main was another where I liked his role.

Oh, the movie? The movie is pretty much big, dumb and awful. Which is why the bikini thing is so important. It would be important even if there weren't a movie wrapped around it, but with a script this bad you really have to find something positive to focus on.
That is pretty funny.... and very much to the point of why anyone goes to see a movie that bad.
If you put Alba in the film, they will come.

| I saw Alba in Fantastic Four. She's not my type. Luckily I'm not her type either so I can say with all honesty that we are satisfied with our relationship. In case anyone asks. |

I just took a stroll through the posts to see what kind of comments were generated about Serenity.
Earl, your long lost friends analogy particularly struck me because I had one of my own. I left the theater feeling unsatisfied. I enjoyed the movie, I think Joss did a wonderful job as both writer and director, but something felt off.
SPOILERS
I realized later that my problem was not with the story or even the upsetting twist (that was my favorite character). I went into this movie thinking I was jonesing for a Joss Whedon story when it was really, as a fan of Firefly, the characters I missed.
Imagine visiting dear friends for a weekend after a long absence, only they have planned so many activities that by the time you leave you realize you never got a minute to just sit down and talk. You go home knowing you had fun, but ….
Sioux’s comments about the characters really struck home to me. I think people who haven’t seen the series are actually at an advantage. The pacing of the series allows the viewer to get to know the characters. With Serenity I barely had time to register a person’s reaction before the next action sequence was underway—which was fun but not what I was in the mood for.
With that said, I still loved it. It was still Joss writing, and Joss writing is my fav. I’ll probably go see it again this weekend. I’m curious if it will be better the second time around now that I’m prepared. |
