Sioux,
I'm sorry you're going through a sad spell.

Chill - Hey, Vermont is my next-door neighbour!
Deckard = Burnzred. Very cool! I remember you from days of yore over at NYT. Welcome home, and congrats on your new, thicker teflon skin. |

Does anyone have a hankering for buying a 1963 Buick Wildcat? It's Gold, baby. A bit rusted, but still runs. Sweet car. |

don vito - yore welcome. i mean, thank you. and thanks for the kewl site.
thicker skin notwithstanding, every site i've been at recently (including a return to the nytimes) invariably flows into a discussion involving the heavy stuff we have to deal with. nice to chill out with old friends (and perhaps some enemies?)
peace, love and happiness to all, all the world over.
good night gracie. |

Very cool! But it was pretty fun when you visited as a Girl On Tour. That was a great night. |

deckard...smooth landing.
You and I don't know each other but I was on the NYT's for about maybe a year when we jumped ship to this cool place. I think these are all really fine people, although like any group, it gets intense sometimes. But it's all good. Thanks for the good wishes to us and the rest of the world and the same to you. Welcome. |

Ya know? I give McBain shit about the ComicBoy aspect of being a moviefan, but that's just because I can NOT relate. I actually thought that McBain liked me while posting on the NYT FF, I mean he found out my IM and would IM me occassionally, but then the whole MilkPlus thing happened and some people felt they were worthy of falling off the cliff (NYT) and moving on and letting the rest, the peons, the uninformed (LOL!) stay and rot. Well, they did that, quite successfully it seemed, at first. I visited there even though I wasn't invited, but because a friend of mine that was invited shared the link. It was nice. Nice to go somewhere for some more in-depth thoughts about film than you can get through a world-wide open site such as the NYT FF. However, there was no discourse. Comments, okay, but it never really flowed. So, I thought, here are these wonderful people who have a shitload of things to contribute to appreciating the artwork of film and they're going to be lost in this little, teensy corner of the Web. Well, of course, that's what made me feel better for being left out. However, it started to be a great place to visit. Now, it seems stagnant. Here's to you and yours over there -- write some new reviews. Here's to US over here. We are more than the sum of our feelings on film. We are more than the next goddamn festival. We are trying to do something which I think is quite new. We are becoming a close-knit bond of peers that hopefully could have a film festival of our own someday. I feel that our Director/Genre Specific forums have a life outside of what they are. Wouldn't it be fabulous to see that evolve into film festivals to come? I have such faith in this celluloid-worshipping community. Peace. |

Sioux,
I've experienced a lot of deaths in my life, too. I'm sorry for your pain, but you will make it through. And remember, lots of people love you. I'm one of them. |

Burnzy - You met Whitney (who signed up for this site, posted for a short time, and vanished, probably never to be heard from again) and her husband McCoy when you were in town.
Sioux - I went through a six-year period where I lost 8 people and pets--and my marriage fell apart. It was tough, but I got through it by reminding myself that it's nature's way. I hope that helps, but it probably won't.
Ehle - I'm trying to find a supersize hotdog bun even as I type....! Cutie! |
