He didn't have anything to do in Interview.

I wanted him to win the Oscar for Fight Club.

lorne, your comment on Hooters and bees is brilliant. I've been struggling for years to articulate this point in my running debates over gender issues with my female friends. Thanks. I now have the nuclear option at my disposal.

Wouldn't go quite this far, but I thought he was brilliant--and, in fact, much better than Edward Norton in the same movie. Of course, Norton had all the critical cred, so it was P.C. or something to say he outacted Pitt. No fucking way. Brad was great.

Oh Billy take that back!! Edward was genius in Fight Club That scene in the office with his boss - fighting with (well you know who -don't want to spoil) was hillarious, masterfully executed

Brad seemed to borrow some gestures and craziness from his role in 12 Monkeys, for FC. (I guess he was also a loon in Kalifornia, but that was more of a rednecky loon)

Hello, BTW. I'm new. Nice place. Very civil, what I've seen of it. Everything smells good, too.

Welcome, Dignan. We do our best. I'm glad you finally spoke up. We look forward to your views (and good smells as well!).

As I eat a strict diet of fruit and deodorant chips, I do smell very good. My views, however, may stink on occasion. I'll sniff them first before posting.

Just for your information. If you want to post a full-length review on the review forum, you have to send it to Lshap first by e-mail. He does all our sniffing for us. (Actually, it's done this way to keep people from posting comments on that forum. It's supposed to be read-only.)

I guess 3rd Eye smells good compared to "Stillwater."
Wink
Welcome dignan.

Thanks, Billy.

I don't want to hear that Asshole #1 Denby liked Crash. Might alienate me from the movie before I see it.

Pitt's okay as an actor, in my opinion, but nothing great. Yes, I liked him in Fight Club, too, but I think his part was one dimensional (from the actor's perspective, not what it meant in terms of the plot), and he embraced it. Crude and self-satisfied. Not exactly a lot of layers there. I think anyone willing to be dislikable (which would discount just about every other major star...no way Tom Cruise would take that role) could pull it off.

On the other hand, anyone who has seen Dazed and Confused and still thinks Michael McConaughey can't act...well, I don't think I could continue the conversation with them.

Cruise was unlikeable in Magnolia. If he played the character in Vanilla Sky as it was played in Open Your Eyes, that would have been rather unlikeable (though a bit more sympathetic) as well.

Dignan,

Welcome to your next addiction. All of us here at Third Eye have either lost jobs, health or spouses in order to keep the relentless train of posts flowing. We're the Hotel California of websites, only without the three-part harmony.

As to Brad, I thought his comedic quirkiness worked really well in True Romance and Fight Club, alot less so in 12 Monkeys. Ironic that he was nominated for an Academy Award for the role I found the most annoying. Three great films, by the way.

Odd item in a semi-gossip column in the Sun-Times: Cruise has been involved with three Catholics since he divorced Mimi Rogers, a Scientologist like he is. I find that an odd thing to notice. Nothing was mentioned about the age gap between Cruise and Katie Holmes, an obvious indicator that a very successful and handsome man also can go through a mid-life crisis. One thing is for sure--with the exception of Kidman, Cruise has definitely shown himself to be a breast man.

Another sign of the times. A car stopped in front of me on the road had a large Christian-symbol fish that had the word "Truth" in it. It was eating a smaller Christian-symbol fish that had the word "Darwin" in it.
