| Perhaps Bocce would consider drawing up a list of the films we shall disuss, in what order, and when do we start. Since I saw most of the Fellini movies a long time age, I will need to see them again. |

I was hoping for Fellini, but didn't register my choice since I faded badly from the Noir forum.
I'll have to dig out my Fellini discs.
A few of the later ones I haven't watched yet.
I know that I have:
The White Sheik (1952)
I Vitelloni (1953)
La Strada (1954)
La Dolce Vita (1960)
8 1/2 (1963)
City of Women (1980)
Ginger and Fred (1986)
La Voce della Luna (1989) although this last one might not have sub-titles
So I'm reasonably well-prepared.
Really would like to get a hold of Amarcord, which I loved 20 years ago. Is there any structure to the discussion (films, themes, etc.) or is it just going to grow organically?
My warmest memories of Fellini films include: the Nino Rota music, watching Mastroianni strut around, and the way that Fellini makes a party scene come to life. |

I know little about Fellini, although La Strada, Sweet Charity, and Nights of Cabiria are personal favorites. Didn't get into Satyricon, although I'm willing to watch again (have only seen it once).
Looking forward to an opportunity to talk about him.

In college Fellini Satyircon was, er, important to me, if you know what I mean.
It's a beautiful looking movie (a science fiction move set in the past, Fellini called it), but I hate that the comic spirit of Petronius' work (often considered the first novel) is missing. The book is a satire, and almost vaudvillian in nature. The movie is dark.
I'd like if people would discuss the evolution of Fellini as a director with a vision. We see Bergman move from a director of purely commercial films, to one who settles on sexual comedy, to someone concerned with very intense examinations of the soul (I know I'm simplifying the development), and then a return to comedy near the end. Is there a similar development with Fellini? |

this is ehle's suggested subject and i think he should be given first crack at moderating it...
that said, i'd make a couple of suggestions: 1) do the films in chronologic order as there is no other way to understand the evolution of fellini's vision without it. he even gives us a nice wrap up with the auto-biographic "intervista" toward the end of his career. 2) spend some time on fellini the screenwriter prior to his directorial debut. it is the cocoon which nurtured his genius.
if you thought the debate over catholicism was over here, wait until you get fellini's slant. |

ixnay on the moderating...
again i'll say that i can only post very early in the morning (pre 7am) or in the afternoon. but i'd be happy to be an assistant to someone who has a more broad time schedule.
i hate to impose, but ghulam seems to have the time, the interest, the aesthetic sensibility and the organisational skills to make this work. frankly, he did such a good job with "noir", i'd nominate him as moderator for ALL the specialty fora (with assistance from those with peculiar expertise in a given area).
it's up to ghulam... |

furthermore, i'd propose that there be a separate "specialty forum" catagory which deals with directors, genre and miscellaneous subjects (preferrably unlocked which is now the case???)...
and i, again, propose ghulam as the general moderator of those fora so they will be ongoing so we won't have to wait and struggle to initiate others, |
