					| I love love love camels. There's a wildlife refuge down the road with a couple of camels. I've entertained the notion of volunteering there just so I could be around them. They're cute, cuddly, temperamental, stalwart and love the desert. Just like me.
Thanks for the camel movie heads up, Lady & Ghulam.

					| Lady W, the two-humped bactrians seen in The Tale of the Weeping Camel have a configuration of eyes and eye sockets which in some scenes looked remarkably human as well as expressive, quite unlike the one-humped dromedaries we have in India. |

Let me rewrite that from another perspective.

Joaquin Phoenix has declared himself an alcoholic. Good.

He's checked himself into a rehab. Better.

					| What I find sad is that the Phoenix family seems to be plagued with these kinds of problems. |

The family history isn't exactly a model of stability. The parents were hippies, I think. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But finally, I think it's a hopeful sign that Joaquin is doing something about his part of the family disease. Good luck and more power to him. I've always had a good feeling about that dude.

No. Where was he? No mention of it on the imdb.com, btw.

 Dogs aren't very perceptive.

Trish - it's not out yet on DVD; it looks like it'll be out in the fall. But here's some more info about it: http://www.milestonefilms.com/movie.php/animal/.

And yep, it's a two-humper. (Camel, that is.)

Evan Rachel Wood can be seen now as one of Joan Allen's daughters in "The Upside of Anger."
And as the lead in PRETTY PERSUASION, a new indie film that I saw last night and liked a lot. It's about three malicious high school girls who accuse a perverted teacher of sexual assault. A dark and funny satire on American culture, written by a Canadian, that has a few flaws but works overall. Wood is one of the best things about it.
