As Marilyn said, she was on the TV show Dark Angel.... amonst other TV show and movie roles, mostly teen driven.
I like her, but don't lust after her (like some other models or actresses... he he).
To answer merlot's quip, my main draw to this movie is the feel it has. Granted, I'm not going to complain about the gratuitous lack of clothing that Ms. Alba will be found in, but the cast and the plot seem like it will be enjoyable.

Paris Hilton is smart to stay away from acting. She's got the big bucks and knows how to get exposure. *clears throat* But now she's made two movies. That could be her undoing. But who knows? Maybe she's taken an acting class or two? |

| Paris trandscends all of the stereotyping of the kind a few of you have mentioned. She plays right into that. She may have once been all of the things she is accused of being. More properly put she is now a cartoon of those days and is well aware of it. If I was casting a treatment of mine which I have been working on for years about a mistaken identity thing over Elvis in 1956-7 she would play the town's diner waitress/seductress for me and I would get an Oscar worthy performance out of the girl. She needs a script. She's as warm as they come, certainly anyone who can laugh at herself/not-self as much as she does, has more to offer by default than her rep ever lets on. Plus have you seen her ?!! |

I looked up Paris Hilton on the imdb.com today. I was unaware of her mother's early acting career plus those of the mother's 2 sisters (Paris' aunts). This side of the family has extensive credits (albeit mostly TV and not terribly impressive) but in terms of quantity, those credits represent plenty of work and lots of showbiz connections.
BTW, Paris attended several posh schools, but never graduated and has a GED. |

I watched Dreamcatcher last night (before The Howling). This one, despite being initially interesting, can be chalked up as two hours that would have been better spent painting my ass blue.
The Brides of Dracula is cheap and littered with tacky and awkward moments, and a few non-actors wasting oxygen. Yet it's also exceptionally well directed and written, with a real sense of gothic poetry, has a great selection of British character actors, has a deliciously spooky music score, and - the reason for my citing it earlier - has the eternally kick-ass intellectual action hero of Peter Cushing's Van Helsing.
What Terence Fisher did on a 50-pence budget forty years ago seems to entirely elude a bunch of smug bastards like Stephen Sommers and even Lawrence Kasdan with millions of dollars at their disposal.
That said, I thought Hugh Jackman did the steely action hero bit well, and only needs a better movie. |

I saw a recent photo of Hugh Jackman a few days ago. In his current incarnation, he is skinny and has a completely shaved head. He is completely unrecognizable.
I wonder if it's for a part? |

| Speaking of VAN HELSING, both as a guilty pleasure and its defects; the one vampire movie I really didn't like was Coppola's DRACULA. I found this movie a complete disappointment in every respect. |

Sofia Coppola is now the toast of Paris. She's directing MARIE ANTOINETTE (at Versailles) starring Kristen Dunst.
I bet that cast is having a blast! |
