Update on my mission to meet Joan Collins:

Our friend and neighbour had a slew of people over at the pool today. Friends of his from England. Husbands and wives with their children. I asked where Jan (his wife) was. He said that she was upstairs with a couple of girlfriends. Bingo. Joan was upstairs with Jan. About 20 minutes later Jan came down with two women. They walked by the far side of the pool and out to see the ocean. I strained my vision focusing on the raven haired friend but couldn't determine if it were Joan or not. Later they were taking pictures by the ocean overlook. I went over and offered to take a picture of all of them together. The black haired woman was attractive and did look a bit like Joan but I couldn't be sure. I saw her later as I was floating in the pool and Jan and her walked by heading back to the condo. I exchanged a couple of quips with Jan and tried my darndest to determine if it were Joan Collins or not.. Joan(?) didn't say anything. Well she was good looking and had a resemblance to Joan but I concluded that it wasn't her. Just a short time ago I got a brainstorm, maybe the cleaning lady was wrong and it wasn't Joan Collins coming to visit but her sister Jackie Collins. I did a search and sure enough it was Jackie, What clinched it was a picture of her wearing the same diamond cross that she was wearing today, (Very nice for a Jewish girls Very Happy )

Maybe there is an author in my future, though I didn't get any sign that she was swooning inwardly when we sort of met.

Joan Collins is married to a guy (Percy) in his late thirties. They've been married for a couple of years. He works in the theater and they met when she was doing a play in NYC.
Her hair is much lighter now - kind of reddish-brown - and is actually a wig. She has been wearing wigs (and hats) for years.
I figured it was the wrong Joan when you discussed her _black_ hair.
But keep us posted. Your tales are fascinating.

Kate, I'm sort of relieved that she isn't the Ms. Collins because Joan is a little frightening. She doesn't have the reputation of being the easiest person to get along with. And I'm a pussycat.

Yes, this is true. I knew someone who worked with her on "Dynasty."

Prisoner of Conscience Rebiya Kadeer Now Free

Amnesty International is thrilled to report the release of prisoner of conscience Rebiya Kadeer, whom Chinese authorities freed March 17 on medical parole.

She is now reunited with her husband and children in the United States. Her release immediately preceded Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's visit to Beijing and follows years of intensive campaigning for Kadeer's freedom by Amnesty International.

Police detained Rebiya Kadeer, a prominent Uighur businesswoman from China's northwest region of Xinjiang, in 1999 while she was on her way to discuss human rights with visiting U.S. Congressional staff members. She was sentenced in 2000 to eight years' imprisonment on charges of "leaking state secrets" for having sent newspaper clippings to her husband in the United States.

Following her sentencing, Rebiya Kadeer became one of Amnesty International USA's Special Focus Cases. Over the years, thousands of Amnesty activists called upon the Chinese government to free Kadeer. Approximately 60,000 actions were sent from AIUSA's Online Action Center. In the United States, more than 100 Amnesty chapters adopted Rebiya's case and campaigned for her release. Activists organized write-a-thons, demonstrations, vigils and other events to highlight Kadeer's plight and that of the many other prisoners of conscience jailed in China.

A special thanks goes out to all of you who worked on Rebiya Kadeer's case. Your efforts make a tremendous difference.

If you participated in this action, I thank you, too.

From the beginning of this lastest round of court battles, it's never been about Terri Schiavo. It's been the attention that the politicians, her parents and everyone else is involved... with the exception of the husband. I truely think he wants to fulfill her wishes and move on with his life.

Can't understand why they don't just let this go away unless it's about getting the attention they crave in the media.

I have a feeling that the appeals court will come to the same conclusion that the other judges have.

BTW, daffy... this is a great line.

Spring is here and the birds are starting to show up. That early migrant, the Eastern Wood-peewee is here in abundance. I also spotted that beautiful redhead, the chipping sparrow. Not much else but the red-winged blackbirds and cardinals establishing territories, and the incessant chirping of the frogs in full mating mode. It's going to be an interesting season.

Shoot! I meant the Eastern Phoebe! The Pee-wee might be here, but I didn't spot it today.

That's because it's being tattooed in Taos.

QUESTION:

Last week I caught a bit of the horizontal crawl on CNN about a big show bound for B'way. It had opened in Boston and was closing after just a couple of days. Can someone tell me what it was?

BTW, sorry if this isn't 100% accurate. I only caught a glimpse of the CNN crawl.

Five sexiest cartoon heroines (for obvious reasons, I'm not including certain Anime heroines or going any near the young O-ren:

1. Meg from Disney's Hercules - cool sexy, and hangs out with Hades, the ultimate femme fatale.
2. Mirage form The Incredibles
3. Elastic Girl form The Incredibles
4. Esmerelda from Disney's The Hunchback Of Notredam
5. Jasmine from Disney's Aladdin
6. Aerial from Disney's The Little Mermaid. Yes, I know she's a bit young for me.
7. Leela
8. A bit of a cheat this one - Lara Croft. All the better since Angelina Jolie brought the bytes to life.
9. Josie And The Pussycats - sorry it's all three or the deal's off.
10. Bunny Girl Jessica, a bit too obvious to be any higher up the list, though she gets the best line in cartoon chick history, "I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way." Read by who else but Kathleen Turner.

Sorry, just getting to this. Tarna from the first Heavy Metal movie (last segment) kicks all those asses!

Personally, I was always a Hawkeye kinda girl (Doc Strange was attractive as well). Can you tell I'm a Marvel fan from way back when DC sucked big time? I love this site BTW , it's called Superman is a dick( http://www.superdickery.com/) . The section on Confounding Covers is too great. If you ever wondered how many times Lois Lane almost got married.....Warning ! comic book lovers only and you will spend time here.
