I think I can officially now say that I am hooked on Lost. Loved the thing they did with Sawyer and I have to say I didn't see the twist coming. And next weeks episode looks very intriguing. This is turning very Island of Dr. Moreau-ish. I keep thinking about what Sayid said about how none of them should have survived...

I tried to tape this week's episode of Lost, but the sound came out all screwed up. What happened? I can't wait months for the rerun. I need spoilers, folks. Thanks.

Joan of Arcadia checks in with another really strong show yesterday. I'm glad they didn't throw more obstacles in Joan and Adam's way, at least not overtly. How she handles Judith's death may cause problems for them in the long term and may cause a rift with God for her. I'm really liking the addition of Annie Potts to the show. She always graces anything she is in. I still wish they'd do more with Kevin's character. He just doesn't have anything but background duty, and the struggles of paraplegic could be so interesting. I know it's Joan's show, but he's really getting the short end of the stick.

Re Joan of Arcadia...

I'm getting a kick out of the relationship between Grace and Luke. The two of them sometimes talk at grad student levels when it comes to the physical and social sciences, art and philosophy (making me wonder why Luke and Joan are in the same Science class; but nevermind), and yet they can be utterly clueless about their own hearts, like the rest of us.

Loved the "Anarchists Unite" bit and Luke wondering, "Isn't that a contradiction?".

I mentioned this in the NY Times TV forum and uncovered another Buffy fan--

Friday's "Joan of Arcadia" surprised me by killing off Joan's friend whom I thought of as the Faith to Joan's Buffy. Like Faith, she lured Joan to the edge and raised questions about why our actions are good or bad. I'm going to miss her.

Did anyone ever watch Babylon 5? I couldn't believe when Delenn (Mira Furlan) showed up on Lost this week. She had the same accent, same hair...her face showed a little age, but she looked pretty good. I mean, except that she was a little dirty and a little off balance...

This morning I was watching "Angel" (since "Buffy" was an old familiar one and "Today" was all beach wedding stuff), and it was the one in which Lindsay finds out why his newly attached hand is evil and quits Wolfram & Hart in a funny frightfest. I was intrigued by his line about what would happen if the Senior Partners found out about the items in Lilah's file--"They'd eat you alive." He probably meant it literally. Too bad the show didn't last long enough for us to find out more about those mysterious Senior Partners.

And by the way, it occurred to me that WH can mean both Wolfram & Hart and the White House. Mere coincidence, no doubt.

I noticed Delenn on Lost and really liked her character. I hope they bring her back again. I forget where she is from (Croatia?) but she was considered the Meryl Streep of her homeland. And did anyone else catch that David Fury is on Lost? I think he wrote last nights episode. It's always fun to keep up with Buffy Alum...

Yes! As soon as I saw his name in the opening credits I felt better about Lost and I already felt pretty good about it anyway. Oh, by the way, since I'm late jumping on this bandwagon, could someone please explain the reference to polar bears?

Finally, speaking of Buffyalum, Tom Lenk, who played Andrew, showed up on Joey last night. He played a high school nerd.

Earl Re: The Polar Bears.

In the first or second episode, on their meanderings, they (Kate and Jack et als) spotted a polar bear wandering around the jungle.

Kinda out of place........................

Now we have to wait 2 weeks for more.....SO not fair!

I also like Lost. It has been fun so far. It has a little Twin Peaks attitude to it.

Oh man, just imagine what David Lynch could do with Lost...

First, put some weird low Badalamenti discordant-but-kinda-jazzy tones underneath.

Then there's the oddly blinking lightbulb-run-by-a-battery strung up over Jack the "normal" guy while looking down on him is a psycho blonde with too much lipstick and a backwards-talking dwarf.

Jacques the one-armed French guy leads an ominously growling polar bear through the jungle periodically, never saying a word.

Rebekah Del Rio entertains the cave dwellers with her haunting a capella voice, and occasionally Kate disappears inside the blue box and finishes her waitress shift at Denny's.

The thought of David Lynch doing Lost is amazing. Another show that died too early a death-Twin Peaks that is.

And I realize most everyone is offline but I just wanted to say

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!
And I am grateful for all of you.
