See, I thought not knowing who it is before clicking would make it more funny once seen. It's that new Shania Twain video co-starring Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray. Tune into VH1 and you'll probably see it every hour or so. It's terrible. Embarrassing, even. And you know it's bad when those two manage to embassass themselves.
Did anybody click on that Stereogum site yesterday and read some of the comments made about the video? Some are hilarious.

p.s.: in case you can't get enough shania in your life, she has a *nearly identical party* with some other bozo in the country video on the CMT website. two shitty video versions of the same shitty song? kudos, shania. you've outdone yourself this time.

Well, it could be argued that this is the only group with whom Rod Stewart has any relevancy, so who can really blame Rod for catering to them.
Rod's voice disturbs me more than anything. Every time I hear Rod sing, I wish somebody would give him a good pat on the back to help him cough up that phlegm. |

| True. I have never been a fan of his. But he did used to be a rocker, and when I say seniors, I mean people who grew up listening to Glenn Miller, not newly retired Baby Boomers. |

| I doubt Glenn Miller fans will be buying Rod's record. The newly-retired baby boomers will buy and maybe like and eventually, if they follow up on their newfound love of standards, will become Glenn Miller fans themselves. |

| I like standards, too. Not sung by Rod Stewart, mind you, but I do like them. There's a couple of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong albums, Ella and Louis and Ella and Louis Again, '56 and '57 respectively, that I listen to quite frequently. Highly recommended. |

Shannon,
You've got great taste in old standards. For sheer inventiveness and concentration of genius, Gershwin has to be the most brilliant composer of the past century. Rhapsody In Blue's melody lines are almost unbelievable, and when he wrote it he was just getting started.
And those two Louis & Ella recordings you mentioned are among my favourite of favourites.
