Ben A. gets incensed about Islamophobia on Bill Maher...
Ben Affleck has surprisingly proved to be a good actor and director. Politically he is still something of a dick. |

Yep. He was missing some nuances there...that, plus the actorish facepalms and such, made for not his shining moment.
Thought Maher and his expert guest made a strong point - if liberals are about civil rights, democracy, free speech, and such, then they have to be critical of those who trample such things, no matter where they are. It doesn't make you an Islamaphobe or a bigot, generally.
But sometimes you do feel torn, as with the burka ban in France....you have what the burka represents, the second-class status of women and their oppression, and then you also have the issue of religious freedom. The way I look at it, we don't condone old-school Mormon splinters that let some old guy marry a dozen teen girls, so we shouldn't condone women being treated like chattel, either, in an Islamic context. |

The best name I've heard lately for a super villain is Super Typhoon Vongfong. |

I hope he's not here in NYC at the Comic Con--we have too many villains already. (George Clooney's here, though--publicizing "Tomorrowland.") |

Will do. It was Phil who got me into the show in the first place. |

Counterfeit money? I hope they look at it carefully and see whether the face on it might be the White Rabbit or Mick Jagger or Lassie. Love the "I Am Banksy" reaction. |

The story is likely a hoax. This guy is 35 and Banksy's been around since 1992 at least. Or there are more than one Banksy. |

I enjoyed the Facebook page for Fappy the Anti-Masturbation Dolphin.
Quote: Police apprehended the famous street artist while in the middle of finishing a piece about a mascot for a Christian organization named Fappy The Anti-Masturbation Dolphin.
“I’m just happy to be a part of this whole thing,” Fappy told CNN. “I’m not familiar with this Banksy character, honestly if it’s not in the Bible I probably haven’t heard of it, but if this arrest spreads awareness of the harmful effects of self-rape, then that is a good thing. Hopefully news of this ordeal will bring the much needed attention to the dangers and consequences of playing with your sin stick or ringing the Devil’s doorbell. Hopefully, God willing, one day, masturbation will be illegal and people will finally be free of playing on the Devil’s playground. To find out more about finding a cure to this deadly disease, please visit STOP Masturbation NOW.”
God willing... |
