Billy... I commented on Lovelace awhile back. Particularly the appearance of an unrecognizable Sharon Stone as Linda's mother. Good film. Interesting slice of history.
Now in CA have managed to see 3 films:
Nebraska
The Dallas Buyers Club
Oldboy
Would you believe Oldboy was my favorite? |

The fact that Gravity is nowhere on Scott's or Dargis's lists goes beyond poor taste and into the kind of reverse snobbism that makes me puke. Watch out!!! |

I have seen only Enough Said, Gravity and Frances Ha from that list so far. And I agree.

The four '13 films I liked most:
Ginger & Rosa
Mud
What Maisie Knew
Frances Ha
But my Want To See list looks better:
Gravity
Capt. Phillips
Inside Llewyn Davis
Nebraska
Muscle Shoals
Disconnect
Enough Said
The Sapphires
The Spectacular Now
Dallas Buyers Club
American Hustle
Her (Spike Jonze, 2013) |

Haven't seen Ginger & Rosa. Was slightly disappointed by Mud. Overrated: 12 Years a Slave and Blue is the Warmest Color. |

G & R is a good film. And Elle Fanning is terrific.
I probably should re-watch it.
I thought the end of Mud was kind of silly.
But I like films about schemers, and coming of age films, and good local color. |

I agree.
I just saw Fargo again. Stayed there two days and had a good time. Stayed at a Super 8 in Moorhead. Fargo doesn't allow the hotels/motels to have smoking rooms. I've been to Fargo very often. I hope you all though that I was talking about the film in my first sentence. |

See no problem with either Gandolfini or Winfrey as supporting. They both played secondary roles to the leads. Daniel Bruhl in Rush is the real travesty. He is the co-lead. It's a long story dating back to Luise Rainer as Best Actress for her extended cameo in The Great Ziegfeld and Patty Duke as "supporting" as Helen Keller. |
