It still made 42 million over the weekend.

The prediction had been for 80 million. The movie--in movie business dollars--is a disaster.

Well despite all trepidations I decided to accompany Marilyn to see this ushering in of the 'new men' of film, Toby and Leonardo. Well done, that's all I can say. The subdued work of Mr. D was more than I expected though of course it was the lead up to to such a change at the end I can understand...still. What with all the over-the-top acclaim given to every thing he does I was glad to find some niche for my taste in his repertoire. Filming was full of all the new tricks, bits of color on grey matte....draw backs on cgi shock scenes....etc., still the whole thing lent itself well to the story within and made for a bit of escapism in the dull afternoon.

[quote="Joe Vitus"].Simon Pegg’s Scotty still the funniest. I watched him in "The Big Nothing" yesterday....what a shock! It was in the comedy section and I could only guess that my sense of humor is now out of sync with my library....this is one disturbed piece of work, done with all effort to the hilt by most of the cast and director.

On the flip side this is the news I look forward to reading after hearing that everyone wanted to see a three hour lesbian sex flick:

"Amelie actress Audrey Tautou says that she decided not to pursue a Hollywood career because she did not want "every single millimetre" of her body being scrutinised.

The French film star, 36, shot to fame in Amelie in 2001 before landing a role opposite Tom Hanks in US blockbuster The Da Vinci Code, the movie based on the best-selling novel by Dan Brown.

Now she is set to appear in the lead role of an unhappily married woman in French film Therese Desqueyroux, set in the 1920s.

She told the Radio Times that the scrutiny of Hollywood actresses was "unforgiving"."

Hi Shane!

You might like Josh Rothman's piece on Gatsby in The New Yorker...

Yes, Pegg is so far the ultimate Scotty. My pre-Trek favorite Pegg role is "Shaun."

Thank you for that! What a read that was, he hit more then the points I was drawn to and gave a relevant comparison to the book which I have to agree showed the direction to be..spot on. Thanks again, good to be back by the way.

I would say there is no accounting for taste but evidently there is!
