Well, The Host was one of the exceptions, but not by much. (The current film, of course. He loved the Korean film with the same title, which is fortunate because I do too.
The remake of Evil Dead sounds abysmal. Roeper gives it one star. Berardinelli gave it two stars but hated it.
Ignatiy Vishnevetsky also has a review up. Of all the attempted Siskel and Ebert replacements, I liked him the best. Too bad he has one of those names that won't trip off anyone's lips. |

hi ya'll ... yes, it's me pambula/jynx/pamalamadingdong! just dropping in to say hello and post my sadness about losing sweet ehle64. he was a great guy and we interacted on FB quite regularly.
as for me, well the good news just keeps coming. i was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2009. lost everything pretty quick. i am wheelchair bound when outside but can usually make it around the house on a rollator. otherwise, i'm still hanging in there. i've lost a lot of mobility but i'm still a mouthy beyotch, so from the neck up, we're good to go kids!
i've missed everyone and i'm glad i can come back and visit everyone from nyt forum (still remember the huge to-do and leaving) ... how long ago was that?
hope to be on here and contribute some movie chat. |

Hey Pam! Just dropped in to see if you were able to get online. Great to see your presence here again.
For what it's worth, I've seen a fair amount of MS. It certainly changes your life but usually doesn't shorten it. My Dad's had it since he was 20; he's turning 87 in four months. He's been in a wheelchair since his 60s but drove a car until he was about 80 (hand controls) and continues to live the way he wants. |

Pam at last! My step-sister had multiple sclerosis, which was complicated by mental retardation. (She's gone now from a heart attack, which had little to do with either.) Very unpleasant, but I was worried about something even worse. [I've lost four friends from cancer in the last year.]
I've always liked you. Welcome back. Seen any good movies lately? |

Sorry to hear of your troubles, but it should make for more film watching, I'd say. I never understand why it's all or nothing for folks. Drop in once a month (or more) to talk about a film you liked. That'd be fine. Same goes for Lorne and Melody. If you don't have time/interest to pop in every day, we'd be happy to have you once in a while.

RIP Annette Funicello. She'd been fighting MS since 1987 at least. I remember her fondly from Back to the Beach which was her only lead role since the 1960s.
Just imagine if she and Margaret Thatcher had swapped careers. |
