[Hoping this will take us to the next page.]

If you need help Bart, just ask. It really is easy once you get the hang of it. But that was funny. LOL!!!

That dog was rabid. He could have killed us all.

Loving the practically universal super-pans of Sex and the City 2. Here's the choice phrase from A.O. Scott in the NYTimes.

"The climactic crisis raises the specter either of Samantha going to jail or the friends having to fly home in coach, and it’s not altogether clear which prospect they regard as more dreadful. That might depend on the in-flight movie. This one is grueling."

What's with all the anti-SITC talk, these days? I skipped the first movie and will probably skip the sequel, but the show was very good for quite a while (went downhill near the end, you say? most series do).

I loved the television series but felt it played more like four gay guys than four het women. Now the gay subtext has (in the first sequel, which I saw, and apparently more so in #2) taken over and propelled the franchise directly over the shark.

I never felt a connection to it as a gay man, in fact I think the show's depiction of gays was a critically weak point. But I liked the show, and related to it, in a general human as opposed to specifically gay way. Never saw the first movie and likely will not see the second.

I'm sending the dog off to the special kennel until they can get the reducing diet to work for her. I think there's some html code I can put in to pare it down to a thumbnail size jpeg, but I'll figure it out later. Sort of ridiculous, right next to a post where I use the metaphor of "sunshine and puppies."

I liked the S&TC series, which did hit home occasionally (I have a friend who still references the show in which Carrie realizes that the shoes in her closet could have added up to a condo down payment). My best friend is a gay guy and I've done some writing myself; on the other hand, I don't have a thing for shoes and anyone can tell you that my fashion sensor is stuck at "Annie Hall." But I did enjoy the show quite a bit. Haven't seen either movie.

I'm always confused about the shoe fetish thing. It's generally accurate, as most of even the non-girly girl chicks I know seem to love buying new shoes, but I've never understood it. Course, I own about five shirts and two pairs of slacks, total. Why would I waste money on clothing when there are books to be bought?

If I had great legs and looked good in short skirts, I'd probably be a shoe freak like Carrie. But strappy sandals and platform spikes look ridiculous on me, so I go for comfort. My indulgences usually involve cashmere.

Good point. If I dropped twenty pounds, I might be more eager to haul myself down to American Apparel. LOL

I can't speak for any "typical" Plains/midwest male, but if some of them, like me, would rather watch paint dry than SITC, it wouldn't surprise me. How anyone can give a rat's ass about these silly shallow people is beyond me.

Cashmere isn't an indulgence, it is logic: wool that actually doesn't itch -- freaking brilliant.

Yes, there is definitely a thing women have about shoes. Speaking of which, in a lot of porno when they have women dressed in sort of a semi-S&M way, which is bad enough, they always have them wearing shoes with 8 to 12" platform soles. It looks stupid as hell and is as sexy as a pair of army boots. I must be out of the mainstream. I have my standards. One look at those outfits and I click to something else.

When "S&TC" finally was on regular TV as opposed to HBO or whatever, I looked in on it expecting a lot of sex and superficiality, but it had a lot more going for it, mostly in its views of relationships, good and bad and indifferent. A bit like when I first watched "Buffy," expecting it to be about teenagers and vampires, and it turned out to be a show about people struggling with demons. In both cases, I could relate.
