| I finally watched Blood Simple..I had forgotten all the suspense. The only thing I really remembered was the shot of the field where Ray buries Marty, the shovel dragging on the asphalt, the light , the dust shots throughout. Now seeing the movie again,, I was on the edge of my couch and yelping out loud , making my cat jump up in surprise. Not one single wasted shot "Marty, is that you?" Until the very end, she still thinks that he's alive, I too kept waiting for Marty to show up. Well, you all commented already, what goes around comes around. |

And until his end, Ray still thinks she was Mardy's (attempted) killer.
And in the end, she's the only main character still alive.

Anyone know what that is all about?
I only managed to listen to maybe two 3 minute chunks.
Funny, but insanely distracting. |

| No question: Blood simple. (note the change) is one of the top debut films of them all. Instantly the Coens announced themselves as a major force. How often does that happen with a first film? |

I'm not sold on the small s for Simple.
I find it very interesting to see a director's first film, which often contains an immediacy, enthusiasm and vibrancy. Also, with limited funding, a fair degree of creativity is required. |

Blood simple..
and yes, Ray thinks that she killed Marty till the very end.. The non-communication right before that scene drove me up the wall.. I was yelling "just tell him that you didn't kill him!!" |

On the internet it's Blood Simple every where I look..
But anyway.well, they did a hell of a job,I thought every scene was perfect. |

| A few impressive first films, The Maltese Falcon (a classic), Knife In the Water (wasn't crazy about it), The Last Picture Show (very, very good). |

| Last Picture Show.. one of my favorites.. I recently watched Citizen Cane again..I should check out Last Picture soon.. after all the Coen Brothers.. |

mirgun--You have to watch Citizen Kane again if only to learn how to spell Kane's name. 
Yes, of course Kane is the #1 debut film. But Blood simple. comes close. I am using the purist's title, the way it appears on screen. To purists like me, it will always be Sunset Blvd. (never "Boulevard"), Mulholland Dr. (not "Drive"), the birdcage (all lower case), Careful Soft Shoulder (not "Careful, Soft Shoulders"), and now, thanks to gromit, Blood simple.. |

| Gotta recheck the lower-case s on "simple." I may be wrong about that. Could someone who still has the movie in-house check the title at the beginning of the movie? Purists want to know. |
