I'd forgotten Yi Yi was a 2000 film. That's certainly in my top 10.
Yeah, Yi Yi is great stuff. |

Upon subsequent viewings, my admiration of "In Bruges" has grown considerably. |

In Bruges is truly a good film. I am at a loss when it comes to these things. The whole #'ing whatnots. I loved Yi Yi, too. Le Temps qui reste would be in my upper eschelon. Absolutely fell for Almost Famous. Such a hard exercise, IMO. |

Everybody putting together their lists?
I think we should expand this to include tv, music and books. |

I think I'd go with Planet Earth as the best of those. It was a stunning achievement. |

I'll devote more time to it over the Christmas weekend.
The link you posted earlier was helpful as a reminder of titles that might fall through the memory cracks.
Also, another idea for people is to (re)visit the Archive Section right here at Third Eye where one can browse Blanche Awards nominees and winners going back to 2004.
And don't forget the Third Eye's Top 100 Films thread. Some may want to check their own lists to see if they included anything from this decade.
Speaking of which, I know that Kontroll was on my list from the Top-100 forum and it will definitely make my Best of Decade list. It might even be #1. I hope to see it on others' lists as well. |

Loves The Wire, loves Syriana. Figures.
28 Weeks Later was ten times better than 28 Days Later. It had more emotional resonance and it was much scarier. And Robert Carlyle gave a marvelous performance. |

I thought I was making my peace with A.O. Scott of the NYTimes, but now that he's chosen A.I. as the second-best movie of the decade, I don't know that I can ever take him seriously again. IMO it's one of the ten worst. Even Scott's television colleague Michael Phillips, who has been supportive of most of Scott's picks, was hard-pressed not to engage in very vocal harshness against this choice. |

Mcbain, you have a number of movies that I loved that I was surprised to see on your list and a few that I hated.
Ones that I loved (and I don't think would be on many other lists):
Momento, The Aviator, The Incredibles, Iron Man, Hellboy, The Wrestler, Knocked Up, The Lookout. Ones that would be more popular picks:
No Country for Old Men, In Bruges, Mulholland Dr., Sideways.
What I hated: Rachel Getting Married.
What I just didn't like: Kill Bill #2, The Dark Night (that was the one where Ledger was the Joker, wasn't it?), Training Day, Lord of the Rings.
The others, I either didn't see or didn't think were great.
In the animated category, a category that I think has been the richest category of the decade, I loved Up, Wall E, Chicken Run, Monsters Inc., Shrek, Spirited Away, Finding Nemo, Corpse Bride, Meet the Robinsons, Surf's Up, Kung Fu Panda. |
