I'm interested in why you're so rigid about it, and why SPR was the one that did it to you.
I'm not quite sure, Billy. But if you remember the first 25 minutes of SPR was harrowing.
I don't like war movies in general. I'm not a fan of action films either. I guess I'm a real girly girl. But I don't think I'm really rigid about it. I've just never seen anything in war films that makes me want to see them. |

I can't quite go there. I am willing to stipulate that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is some kind of a great movie. But you couldn't drag me to see it. |

| I looked up Bigelow and I've only see two of her movies, Point Break (liked a lot) and K 19 (OK). Did some good stuff on TV. |

A theme of hers is macho bonding. She's better at boys/boys than a lot of male directors are.
OMG, just noticed she was once married to James Cameron. Smart woman to have dumped that jerk. (Unless he dumped her for Linda Hamilton or whatever.) |

| Bigelow directed one of the greatest vampire movies ever made, NEAR DARK.BLUE STEEL is good and STRANGE DAYS is an ambitious failure. All of her films are worth seeing. She is an auteur. There is a Bigelow-style. |

| Her existential biker film THE LOVELESS is also quite interesting, though a bit boring. Imagine THE WILD ONE as directed by Godard. Or TWO LANE BLACK TOP with motorcycles. |

I thought Strange Days was largely successful. Although why someone would moon over Juliette Lewis with Angela Bassett beside him was beyond me. The pre-millennial stuff worked for me. |

That's why I bailed after about 20 minutes or so. Had a similar problem with the HBO series The Wire. Gotta try them both again another time. |

BDP's The Wedding Party is actually distributed by Troma.
I also avoid films such as TX Chainsaw Mass. and Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer and similar fare. |

| Forgot to mention that The Hurt Locker's final scene joins The Third Man, City Lights, The Apartment, Notting Hill, Some Like It Hot, and Sunset Blvd. as a favorite of mine. |
