Flight of the Conchords returns on Sunday as well. I'll give USoT a shot, although I'm wary.

Watching the Obama concert over and over. Josh Groban and Heather Headley do one of the most moving versions of "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" or whatever the real title is that I've ever heard. Headley's harmonies are exquisite, and it's great to hear the beautiful words to the seldom-heard second verse.

But the piece de resistance for me is Renee Fleming's take on "You'll Never Walk Alone," a song I really thought I had bottomed out on. She revivifies it in a way I thought impossible, leaving me in a puddle. Her diction is unmatchable, her taste is impeccable, her acting is amazing. In context, and with the help of some Iraq slides, she positions the song as the story of coming through the storm of the Bush administration to the light at the end of the tunnel with Obama, and the result left me shaken and swimming in tears.

Next to Groban, Headley, and particular Fleming, the rockers seem pretty pallid. But I must admit I loved Garth Brooks (never a favorite of mine). He's a great showman.

Renee Fleming could sing the ALPHABET and leave me in tears. She was simply unbelievable, her talent, her poise, and yes, the song.

By the way - here's some Americana trivia - did you know that "America the Beautiful" was originally supposed to be sung to the tune of "Auld Lang Syne"? Try it yourself, it's way cool!

Garth was awesome, doing "American Pie", but "Shout" had me wanting to get up and dance! Can they make that a new Inaugural tradition?

When Garth did that intro, I said (out loud) "I can't believe he's about to sing 'Shout'!" And then he did, and blew me away. He's really quite a guy.

Newfound admiration for Garth, on my part actually. He was never my cup of tea but now I kinda like him! It was just sweet when he sang to the Obama girls. He was the only one - other than Bono (to a lesser degree) - who acknowledged them on their "level".

I'm having a hard time liking United States of Tara. I'll give it another episode or two, but it's going to have to really convince me to spend time with this fucked-up woman who's fucking up her kids along with her.

Any woman who's a mom to teenagers with a grain of decency in her who wants to go off her meds to deal with her alters (I can't believe I just wrote that) would lock herself in a cabin and deal with them by herself. Why subject the family and school and community to it?

"Look, there's Tara the crazy woman."

"Oh, wow, they hurt my feelings thinking I'm crazy."

WAKE UP!! YOU'RE CRAZY!!

Damn, I think I just talked myself out of watching it anymore. Ridiculous.

Not sure who said they'd heard that In Treatment wasn't being renewed, but I knew I'd heard it was, and that the delay of the DVDs was due to coincide with the new season. Here's the lowdown from HBO (sneak peek and all). And I believe Season 1 is being rerun this month. As well, seems the DVDs are being released March 24th now, instead of May!

Just pre-ordered my DVD set, to be delivered by Best Buy Canada(cheapest price I could find, what with USD exchange and all). With their fast delivery, I should have them by March 25th. YAYYY!

Lissa, if you haven't seen it, you're in for an intense treat(ment). I'm not sure I would recommend a marathon viewing since you're going to want to sit with the characters and their dilemmas for a while, much like a psychologist would do between sessions.

Mel - not sure how I missed your post, but I have, indeed, seen In Treatment - several times. I just needed to own the DVDs.

New season starts April 4th, I believe - HBO is airing all sorts of trailers and it looks great. It'll be different than last time - no 5-night schedule, which is going to be strange; it was the real-time schedule that helped lend legitimacy to its premise. But then, the acting is so good, and the writing is so sharp, it will have me watching no matter when it airs.

BTW, John Mahoney is one of the patients this season. I think he is a superb actor, and am looking forward to his sessions.

Okay, so In Treatment will be 2 nights a week - starting Sunday April 5th, there are 2 patients Sunday nights, then 3 eps Monday nights: 2 patients, and Paul's sessions with Gina. Dianne Wiest is an unbelievable force on the show, the complexity of Gina has only begun to be unraveled, and I look forward to the relationship between her and Paul advancing; she is the only one who can talk to him the way she does, and their sessions were always the most electrifying.

What I loved was how Paul's sessions with Gina had echoes of his sessions with his patients (at least the ones we saw), but he never seemed to make those connections. Brilliant writing.

Yay! My In Treatment DVDs arrived...just in time for me to rewatch the series in order, in its entirety, and get ready for April 4th...one week away!
