Frank Miller is biting off a big chunk with The Spirit-- Will Eisner's crowning creation is a dear thing to many of us (snif) and the yearly prize for best comic artist is called the Eisner Award. Some comics were made to stay comics, and I think "The Spirit" may be one of them (along with Pogo, Li'l Abner, Little Nemo, Ditko's Dr. Strange, Steranko's Nick Fury and a few others).
I know Miller will do his best to remain true to the material, but from what I've seen it's been pretty Millerized (a la Sin City). |

Journey to the Center of the Earth IMAX 3D
Do not watch this film unless youre in an IMAX 3D theater with excellent projection and sound.Only the science center gee wiz partly redeems some terrible acting and absent script. The visuals are faithful to Jules Verne's illustrations and the science is wonderful in a late 19th century European scientist - Noble kind of a way, but the movie itself comes across like an unsatisfactory 3d postcard smudged by postal seals.
Brendan fraser is wooden in 3D . the average Chinese import period film feels more real than this disaster of a flic.
and Carrobin, if it's any consolation to you there are only two big explosions in it, although people nearly get eaten by wooden subterranean Phirrana , wooden subterranean dinosaurs and paper subterranean plants to loud noises. |

Well, if they don't manage to destroy the earth entirely, it's hardly worth bothering to see it. |

Indiana Jones could do it with ONE explosion, I'll bet. And not even lose his hat. |

One explosion is all he has time for, with all those natives and Nazis and such chasing him all the time. |

Well, it sounds like I'm not missing anything. And the 3D version costs an extra $3 here, which I'm too cheap to pay anyway. Thanks for the review, seagull. |

Seagull: Why do I like Indiana Jones? Because he's funny. And he has a ton of charisma, which doesn't hurt. (Interesting how close he came to not being cast as Han Solo. It was supposed to be Chris Walken's role.) |

Sea: Actually, my heart still belongs to the late great Alan Bates. But Harrison Ford is fun to watch. George Clooney, too. I'm sure Sir Alan would forgive me. |

Caro,
Sorry I left you like that last night, but after you put up an unachievable Ideal(too many) in form of Sir Alan, I had to go drown my heart in 120 proof and bitter. |
