| Thanks for the birthday wishes, folks! I always try to go to the movies on my birthday, usually an action movie with senseless violence and lots of explosions. (Chick flicks are right out.) This year, the closest I could come was Kung Fu Panda, which I really enjoyed. The animation is quite good. |

I found that movie I was telling you about earlier this evening, the Gabriel Byrne flick? 'Siesta' Dir. Mary Lambert, 1987. A truly strange film.

Hell, no. My idea of a chick flick is Thelma and Louise, which has at least one decent explosion. |

Pluto is now a Plutoid as is Eris. (This is a new subclassification of dwarf planets, so both are still dwarf planets.(

Of course, I still call Pluto and Eris planets despite what the IAU says. Dwarf planets should be a subclass of planet, along with terrestrial planets and gas giants. |

| They should name the next seven dwarf planets Sneezy, Dopey, Bashful, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy and Doc. Then they can start in with Gimli, then Thorin, Balin, Bofur, etc. |

| It doesn't work on the small screen. Or maybe I was just that much older when I rented it. But when I saw it in first release (I think at least three times), I liked it a lot. |

Changing the subject (R.I.P. Tim Russert) --
I just read about a new book, _Hollywood Babylon: It's Back_ with more tales about Errol, Ava, Marilyn, Bette, etc.
It's sold out at amazon.com , but I managed to find a new/used copy to order. It should make for a few hours of fun summer reading. Can't wait. |
