There was a documentary I saw a few years ago about the distortion of evidence leading up to the Iraq War. It may have been Uncovered.

It's not a documentary, but I saw a poster for "Stop-Loss" this morning. I saw the trailer back in the summer and was impressed by its antiwar message--it's about a bunch of guys who refuse to go back to Iraq after they've served their agreed time and are called to return.

Re Woody Allen: I used to see all his films when I worked for the film class--he even came to class once for an interview, which was unusual even then. But since leaving the class, I haven't seen many of the films, except "Miranda and Miranda," which seemed very lightweight in comparison to his movies in the 70s and 80s. But maybe I'll try to see "Cassandra's Dream."

Now this looks like fine entertainment. Lady W, Nancy take note.

Upon reflection, and since the Blanche Awards forum is locked, must reconsider Racso comments here. Marj and Lorne are correct, it needs to be seen live, not TiVoed, and am, as never before, painfully aware of being ill-suited to both profession and recreation, and both approach termination. Happy film-going, alle.

Where'd your avatar go?

Inla - You are the sweetest man. I mean that.

I suppose Lorne took it down because the Oscars, whoops, Rascos were right after the Blanches.

I'm so sorry you removed your avatar so soon. I lost my old one, so as my current one includes a mic too, it's going to stay up until I can find one I like better.

Inla, I've been anxiously awaiting your Oscar coverage and was disappointed all the ding-dong day that it didn't appear. I was worried about you! Finally I thought to look in the Blanche Awards column, but then couldn't find the damn thing, then realized Lorne tucked it away in the archived forums slot.

Whew! Loved your insightful, witty ruminations, as always. Loved your float. Loved your Racso attire.

I want you to be my date to my next high school reunion. Sit in the corner and drink Silver Patron shots with me and dis their god-awful born-again mom-jeans ensembles. I won't take no for an answer.

Oh. You make fun of people who wear mom jeans. I see.

Well, I can change.

tirebiter, would you then be a tirechewer, or a tirenibbler, or a tiregnawer?

Marj and Melody, that's very kind of you both to say.

Didn't do my own high school reunion last summer, so it might be fun to see someone else's.

I only wear my mom's genes, so that's all right.

Well, secretly I adore mom jeans -- all that elastic and 2% spandex really give a gal breathing room.

Real moms don't wear belts.

Tire, you like shree-ump? You'll be eating a lot of it. Come on down!

I saw PERSEPOLIS again today. If it really has gone wide, don't miss it. It really is the best animated film of the year.

It's one of the five or six best of the year, animated or not. It really should have been up for Foreign Film at the Oscars.
