Quote: as does Pitt - although his pretty boy roles bring a little balance to his portfolio
I can't think of one movie I thought Pitt was hot in. I always think he looks like he needs a shower. Even in M&MS he was not attractive, which is the role I think he comes closest to being a hottie. Thelma and Louise made him look like a girl, um, when his shirt was on.
As far as extemes, I think Bale wins hands down for The Machinist but the long-haul award goes to Depp. He transforms better any actor. Edward Norton is another, although not in the way of Depp, but he certainly embraces his characters. |

Christian Bale (see the Machinist), Pitt, Depp, DeNiro to name a few
I'm thinking Ryan Gosling will be another leading man-actor who does
actresses
I can think of many who have done it ONCE - Charlize Theron, Diaz (sort of), Barbara Hershey (Gary's favorite actress - ha ha) a couple times, etc
Glen Close etc
but who among actresses makes a habit of it?
Helena Bonham Carter's been doing it lately. |

I managed to watch it once. It's dreadful. |

Oh, I enjoyed that one, and thought Depp was so good. |

I had this in the wrong forum:
>....Starter for Ten -
Just a delight. A smart script with lightly interwoven characters gives this an an ensemble feel. I laughed hard at the peripheral stuff, like at the dense ice cream guy/boyfriend of the hero's mother. It is partly a story about a dysfunctional college quiz team who, of course, exceed themselves.
The memorable performance is that of one Rebecca Hall, as the gangly, world-wise love interest. I can't help comparing her with Minnie Driver as Skyler in "Good Will Hunting". |

At long last saw Once. Found it deceptively slight, innately honest and ultimately quite enchanting. Somewhere in the ether Richard Lester and John Cassavetes are nodding knowingly at each other. People wouldn't listen. I listen. I'm just a broken-hearted Hoover fixer sucker guy. F**k you, batteries. Falling slowly. Cool.
Once more, at home after another unprepossessing theater assignment, and am listening with the commentary. When your mind's made up. Hanky-panky. Fantastic stuff -- that'll be a hit, no question. What's the Czech for "Do you love him?" Brilliant. |

he's not my cup of tea either - although I can't deny he's handsome - I have no sexual attraction to him
yeah Norton is another and I prefer his crazy, dysfunctional roles to his more traditional leading man ones |

Matthew McConaughey is a certified hottie, SMOKIN'! Everything from bone structure to body to OMG what a beautiful smile. But his body of work is so limited, unfortunately. I think he was great in A Time To Kill and I think I was one of a handful that absolutely loved him in We Are Marshall and his best work, The Newton Boys.
It's a shame he wastes himself in ditties like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Failure to Launch. Funny as he is, I think he could have been so much better. |

| Did you see Sahara? Not the most popular movie, but he was pretty good in it. Plus adding the humor of Steve Zahn made it a guilty pleasure. |

| Saw Sahara and love Steve Zahn, which is the norm for me, I think he's great but only liked Matthew in it. |

I need to watch Happy Texas again soon. Caught That Thing You Do the other day on one of the cable channels. Zahn is pretty good in that one, too. |
