How was that?
The Dvd was around but without much to go on, I skipped it.
It was one of those difficult films...and I recall that I didn't much like it. |

And the baseball season still isn't over. Colorado and San Diego finish tied so they go to a 1-game playoff in Denver tomorrow to determine the wild card. Jake Peavy's going for San Diego. The game counts, so if he wins, he'll be the only 20-game winner in the National League. He's already clinched the Cy Young. It'll probably be unanimous even if he loses tomorrow. He's leading the NL in wins, strikeouts and E.R.A., the pitchers' Triple Crown.
Matt Holliday of Colorado's going for a batting title and may well win the MVP, especially if he gets a home run tomorrow. |

Thanks Syd. I found some K.D. Lang jazz and American Songbook which I'll post tomorrow if time permits. But to hear her again in her early career was just wonderful.
And for those who haven't seen The Black Dahlia, Lang does only a snippet of "Love for Sale." Still it's worth the price of admission.
I agree Karen had a beautiful voice - even if some of the songs she sang were on the syrupy side. I have a CD of The Carpenters |

My daytime net access is pretty much ending today (typing this from a wifi spot) -- I'll be scarce here, so I want to say thanks for some good film/tv chat. Never forget to change a cat's litter daily, freshen the water twice daily, and a pillowcase is excellent when transporting in a car, especially if you add a sprig of catnip or a dirty sock. Remember never to use the phrase, "a local institution since" followed by the date it was founded. It certainly wasn't an institution in the first few years of its existence, right?
Cheers,
Bart |

Bart, sorry to hear that you will be around less. We have to represent the great central plain. Don't be a stranger. |

As I mentioned BTC, hope you are able to check in soon. Find those free WiFi spots. |

PC EXPERTS PLEASE HELP!
Not sure where to ask this, so I'll try here. The icon you see by my name was for a while my desktop background. But when I set it as such, I noticed the "ghost" of the image showing up when I went online. A brighter white outline of the shape and details. It's annoying, and was also visible when I'm watching movies on my computer if the film image is white (clouds, snow covered mountains, etc.). So I changed my desktop background. But the image remains. What is causing this? Why have my other desktop images not produced such an effect? Can I get rid of it? If I switchout monitors, will it still show up? (I figure the info is in my tower, not the monitor, but what do I know?) If switching monitors will fix this, how do I prevent doing the same thing again with whatever desktop image I select?
I would much appreciate advise. Thanks! |

I've heard about this happening. I don't know much about it, but what I've heard is that if you have a non-moving image on the screen for a long period of time it can "burn" itself onto the screen. I'm guessing it's a monitor problem. |

I think mo is right. It could be a "burn in" image. One way to see if this is the case is to try another monitor.... borrow one from a friend or neighbor. If the ghosted image is gone, then it's the monitor. If the image is still there, it could be an issue with the video driver or some other software issue... but from what you describe, it's more than likely a burned in image.
LCD monitors do not experience the burned in image since the pixels are displayed in true on/off. Where as a CRT is always on and just shows different colors based on the images.
The arcade games from years ago used to have the burned in images of high scores or whatever it was that stayed on the screen most of the time between games. |
