There was a cat from Liverpool named ' macca ' on the popular music forum at the NYTimes. I'm just curious if anybody contacted him about the move here...he was an interesting poster. |

How are you, in your recent posts on the subject, any more concrete than mine? How are you being concrete in referring to Pam's posts as stupid? If you can't remember a specific thing she said, only the emotion she stirred in you, than you know the position I'm in in regards to the posts of you and McBain on the old site.[/quote]
Well, firstly, I didn't call Pam's political posts "stupid," I labeled them "ignorant," as in "uninformed" and lacking in substance.
When Pam responds to specific arguments such as the questionable supporting evidence justifying the war in Iraq or the treasonous act of someone in the Bush administration (most likely Karl Rove) publicly revealing the identity of a CIA operative by posting "Boy, all the Bush haters are out in full force today," or that she sums up her position on the war in Iraq by repeatedly making the meaningless assertion that she would "fight to the death to protect her country," I think it's fair to call such sentiments lacking in substance in general, and lacking in substantiation in specific.
I also enjoy how, rather than address any of my points, you simply try to turn the tables and argue that I haven't substantiated my position, and this is typical of the content of posts from mcbain and me.
But which is it Joe? Is it that Mcbain and I inundate you with links and supprorting evidence that you find cumbersome and unnecessary? Or is it that we don't substantiate what we posit?
I do appreciate your concession that you don't substantiate your opinions. however. It's distressful, though, that this practice doesn't concern you.
By the way, how my post differs is when I retrace our arguments, I cite specifics, such as you refusing and then being unable to produce an instance in which I insulted you, and then eventually deciding any "sarcastic" post qualified as insulting. You, however, have a tendency to not really remember the specifics, and consider such matters to really be of meager import. |

This is so much he said/she said. Are we in the People's Court or something? There's a great section in Eric Berne's Games People Play on this particular game. You guys are great at it. |

Yeah, you're right, and it's probably utterly boring for the rest of you, because I'm getting the sense even Joe and I are bored by this, if still firmly entrenched in our positions.
I'll let it go. Joe, final rebut is your. Sorry for dragging an old quarrel into our new home. |

settle up the scores and leave it for a new begining. The adages all seem to apply here, politics and religion even some new ones tailored just for us:
directors some adore others can't stand the mention of, actors many feel couldn't act if they were playing a corpse...and so on, but it's is our new home and we are just going to drag our baggage along no matter what we say. |

Just dropped in after a weekend of moving (the rest of our stuff has joined the stuff we moved into our new home last December) and several days of intense coding (from incomplete and inadequate specs for a rundate that is impossible to meet, but what else is new) and saw I had missed a dynamite conversation on the word "cocksucker."
About that point I realized I had to get back to my impossible coding task, so I skipped to the end (just couldn't do justice to all 22 pages of missed posts) but I had to say that, whenever I hear or see that word nowadays, all I can think of is Martin Landau's brilliant portrayal of Bela Lugosi in Ed Wood and his favorite way of referring to Boris Karloff ... which I have since learned was artistic license, but, still.
I hope to see Day After Tomorrow on the day after tomorrow. what else are Big Screens for?
Hope you are all doing well. Don't forget the Indy 500 will be on Sunday morning, featuring another unforgettable rendition of the immortal Back Home Again In Indiana sung by the incomparable Jim Nabors! |

Lenny Bruce went to jail for saying the word "cocksucker." And he did a great routine about it later-- the fact that in the trial the word had to be bandied about in court and that it was clear that the judge and the prosecuting attorneys loved saying the word and said it every chance they got. "And what word did the defendent then say?" "He said 'cocksucker'" "He said 'Cocksucker?'" "Yes, sir-- 'COCKSUCKER." |
