My b-in-law just told me about this, and my first thought was, "This sounds like something in Marc's store"...

You do realize I'd make you watch it too. BTW, you still need to see Gone With the Wind. |

You haven't seen Gone With the Wind?... Ho, boy.
That would be an... interesting double bill, though. |

Wow... now I don't feel so bad for never seeing Dances With Wolves. While it has been years since I've last seen it, GWTW was really a good film. |

No one should ever feel bad about not seeing Dances With Wolves. I don't. |

Dances With Wolves is not a bad film. It just never should have won the Oscar over GoodFellas. |

I'll never forget that. It was such a travesty! |

I saw Dances with Wolves near the end of a particularly tough undergraduate semester (I know I complain a lot about the end of the semesters, but they relate to my experience as a teacher, when I actually have work to do; most of my years as a student were pretty easygoing). It was a very good choice because it starts in chaos and ends in calm. And the scenery was attractive.
But I've never seen it again and never wanted to. I was surprised that, for a few years, it was considered a classic. I'm not a big fan of GoodFellas, but it's clear which is the better picture. |

Syd won't watch GWTW, even though I've told him he can root for the damnyankees. He did finally watch The Outlaw Josey Wales, and seemd to like it, though he kept muttering something about "secessionist propaganda." |

Straight men seem to have a real problem giving Gone With the Wind a chance. I guess what they hear about it makes them think it's going to be a Halequin Romance kind of thing. I wish they'd look to their fathers and learn that romantic movies and musicals do not turn you gay on sight. |

Gone With the Wind is a truly great movie. It's a little too long, Olivia De Havilland is icky sweet, and Leslie Howard is too feminine, but Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable and the big set pieces make up for every little flaw. |

You've identified one reason why I won't see Dances With Wolves.
Another involves Kevin Coster, which I think actually watching Waterworld was something I should have never done. I know the two films are nothing like each other, but until I need to see the film for some reason, it will remain unwatched by me. |
