I actually came on to say that I finally got around to watching Sympathy for Lady Vengeance Sunday night (while taking a break from setting up a bulletin board much like this one, sheesh my head is gonna explode).

What an amazing movie. I know it's toned down compared to Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Oldboy, and maybe it's better I saw it first, but the cinematography is outstanding, the story has some deftly done twists and turns, and even the music is perfect for the mood. I watched the "fade-to-b&w" version, which (starting from the 1-hr mark) gradually fades from color to b&w, which makes the main vengeance scene a lot more powerful (takes the attention away from the little gore there is, to what the motivations / actions / consequences are).

Wow. Things have been going pretty well for me lately, and that's even extending to the movies I'm watching.

from wikepedia:

The Nails were a six piece New Wave band that formed in Boulder, Colorado during the mid 1970’s. In Colorado, they were originally named The Ravers. A young man named Eric Boucher was their roadie at the time; he later made his own name (literally) for himself in the music business as Jello Biafra.

The Nails moved to New York and by the late 1970s had established themselves on the club circuit. An EP recorded in 1981 (Hotel for Women) contained an early version of a song that caught the attention of RCA. The song, "88 Lines About 44 Women" was re-recorded for RCA in 1984 on their full length debut LP “Mood Swing” and received regular airplay despite a number of double entendres and lyrical references to masturbation and sadomasochism. [1]

Two years later they released "Dangerous Dreams", also on RCA. Both Mood Swing and Dangerous Dreams made the Billboard top 200 album chart but after the release of Dangerous Dreams RCA dropped the Nails from the labels roster. "88 Lines About 44 Women” continued to appear on compilations 20 years after its release and was featured in a Mazda Advertisement that played in the late 1990s.

The Nails were composed of vocalist Mark Campbell, bassist George Kaufman, saxophonist Douglas Guthrie, drummer Mike Ratti (Dennis McDermott on Mood Swing), keyboardist Dave Kaufman and guitarist Steve O'Rourke.

Lady -- I'm trying not to read your post as I'll be getting Sympathy for Lady Vengeance soon from Netflix. But that cover art sure looks great.

It's okay - I didn't say much about the actual plot. I'd like to write a review, but I'm working on a project right now and I'm kinda out of steam for writing.

I tihnk a friend is getting the Vengeance Triolgy for Xmas, although I doubt his wife (another friend) will watch it.

And then there's David Bowie making a nice career out of doing small movie roles, most recently in The Prestige.

I saw David Bowie do a few numbers about a month ago. The guy's still got it.

IMO, Robert Plant (Led Zep) has aged the worst.

Seen any of the Moody Blues lately? They look like they should be throwing darts down at the Marlborough and reminiscing about the '66 World Cup.

Lady - When you find a moment drop me a line and catch me up on your project and your move.

And I'm not watching the entire trilogy. I'm beginning with Lady Vengeance to see how I like it. I'm such a wimp.

I was going to call you a name dropper, but I'm not sure Jello Biafra counts. Mind you he and his mates were responsible for two of the best rock 'n' roll singles, like ever: California Uber Alles and the A Holiday In Cambodia.

No, that's how I started - I haven't seen the other two. I know they're violent, and for some reason in recent years my violence tolerance has gone way down. But if they've got the reward that Lady Vengeance does, I'll probably catch them at some point.

I'll definitely follow up - I have a couple more days of acting as the tech person and the translator (which is not what I signed up for), and will be back to the stuff I need to do, so should have a little more time.

I currently hate my hosting service, so I'll stop and send a quick PM.
