Thanks Grace. And you don't have to be observant to celebrate New Years. |

Shit, M, you didn't even give the suspense time to get off the ground!
BTW it isn't the Godfather but Marj who is deleting my messages. I know you have a soft spot for her so I won't make any further comment. |

Outside of the luscious lips that she possesses, what ever gave you that idea? |

Grace - Thanks for the New Years wishes. It would have more resonance for me if they'd actually been counting since year 1, and I won't get into the irony of deciding for the world that it's six thousand years old. I'll just say Happy New Years to other folks in the tribe and leave it at that.
But I do love the food. |

The trouble with Harry is that he's gotten sort of tedious and has entered into insult mode. For a guy that doesn't want to be here, he's posted 140 times, but has hardly discussed films, as far as I can tell.
Does anyone recognize his behavior???
I'd guess that he's someone from the NYTFF past come to harass the Third Eye present. The only old guy I know of who went into insult and meltdown mode here was Rod's father. It would certainly be curious if he turned out to be "Harry."
Anyway, I hope "Harry" will post about films, and make an effort to fit into the community as it is ... but that's a decided longshot.
If he wants to be banned, why not just ban him. Then he can feel he "wins" by proving how intolerant, shallow, intrinsically unworthy we all are. Fine. Then if he wants to come back, all he'd have to do is come up with another email address and register as "Larry" or "Harvey" or perhaps more fittingly "Hari".
He's plunged the knife into his own mid-section, hacked it open exposing the merde inside, and now he's just asking Lorne to be his second and strike off his head. Harry's honor is at stake Lorne, just bring the blade down swiftly and justly, putting us all out of his misery. That's all he's asking. |

Gromit - You're describing a mercy killing. Great, now I have to wrestle with the morality of Eyethanasia. |

Interesting. I was reminded of Rod's father when reading Harry's comments. Rod's father was the only person on these forums who ever insulted me in a mean-spirited and gratuitous way, and my hurt feelings over that carried over into my feelings about Marilyn, who kept telling us that the Rods were great people (this was after Rod Jr. got into the hassle with Harry, which he now says never happened).
It all makes my head swim. But bottom line, I don't think Harry is a candidate for banishment. He rubs some people--well, a lot of people--the wrong way. But so does--or has, in the past--Marc. And Marantzo. And moi. And everybody else except Marj.
Lotta M people here. |

Whisky, it's weird how many people I know, or am related to, with roughly your birthday. Hope you and Joan Jett got out there and had a good time, Equinox guy. H.G. Wells, Bill Murray, Stephen King, and my ex all celebrated their natal days on the 21st. My ex couldn't finish The Shining -- scared the pants off her. And not in any way that was useful to me.
Harry -- posting an Onion article indicates oxygen-starvation? Maybe if I posted it from Lhasa. |

Close, but no cigar. All (we'll most) will be revealed shorty.

I don't recall insulting you, Billy, but if I did it may have been gratutious but I assure you it wasn't mean-spirited. Every message I have posted - insults included - has been in a spirit of fun. Lorne said the only way I could be banished was if I insulted other members so I started insulting them - with recklesss abandon. Apparently my little joke was too subtle to be properly appreciated. If I hurt your feelings it was inadvertent and I humbly apologize.

And a very magnanimous bottom line it is. It's nice to depart on a positive note. Yes, I've decided to take Lorne off the hook and end this (tedious) cat and mouse game.
Reason has won the day.
The mouse cries "Uncle".
(Valedictory address to follow.)

Harry--I never meant to imply that you had been mean-spirited to me. No, just that your insulting posts to others reminded me of the one I had gotten from Rod Sr. |

Harry -- posting an Onion article indicates oxygen-starvation? Maybe if I posted it from Lhasa. Count back nine months, and I think you'll get the answer. Think drunk dads coming home from office Christmas parties.
I had a good friend whose birthday was September 25. "Merry Christmas, dear! Got something for ya..." |

Ah, to hell with a valedictory address! Life's too short. "Never apologize, never explain," right?
Instead I'll just leave you folks a departing gift:
