'A Single Man' spoiler: "The fact that he dies within minutes of embracing life struck me as being too much too soon." An O.Henry ending! Life's little ironies.

Ghulam--This O. Henry thing doesn't work for the movie. We've been primed for psychological realism, not an ironic joke. |

Billy,
Does psychological realism preclude life's little ironies? |

I was thinking about another film with a similar plot: Last Tango in Paris.
SPOILERS I GUESS:
When Marlon Brando's wife commits suicide he goes into a tail spin. He copes by having crazy sex with a stranger. When finally he decides he wants to live and love again........and asks the stranger her name.......she shoots him dead. |

It is indeed all so relative. And provisional. And...wait for it...
subjective.
Anyhoo, I'm sure we can agree on one thing: This year's Blanches are gonna be an excitable blast, woohoo, hoorah, hopla. |

Tabulators, I believe Kate is our only West Coast voter, and she's told you when she will be voting.
Other than that, after Friday night at 11:59 p.m. when you have your winner, please send the name of the winner -- even if there is a tie -- to Lshap via PM or email:
Lshap@videotron.ca
DO NOT announce the winner here. It should be a surprise to all of us, revealed only during the 11th Annual Blanche Awards, currently set for Saturday, March 6, time TBA (subject to change, of course).
Once again, thank you all for your inestimable tabulating skills and volunteering your time in the service of Blanche! |

Colin Firth's character did have the opportunity to go on a sexual bender.....maybe he just took the introvert path.
Wade.......I don't have your vote on Foreign or Marc's.......only 5 votes came in......but I don't care I like the one that's winning now........ |
