I don't like the vampire novels as well as his others. I think the best is Lamb, which is the story of what Jesus did during the lost years, as told by his best friend Biff (Levi). "A Dirty Job," "Coyote Blues," "The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove" and "Fool" are among his best. "Fluke" is the one I really disliked. |

Are you still a resident of the state of Oklahoma, Syd?

What I meant, somewhat in jest, was that the fairly undetailed map I saw of what would become Indian rez, per the SCt decision yesterday, left it unclear on which side of the line Norman would be. The graphic I saw, it looked like the line with the Chickasaw portion was about 20 miles south of OKC.
But maybe it's farther. |

I was impressed in the early 90's when the Canadians acknowledged ripping of the Inuit and gave them a large chunks of Canada, Nunavut. I didn't really follow how that all went down, and even though it's a giant territory, it's pretty far north and frozen. Still seemed cool. |

Must be farther. Norman was part of the Unassigned Lands, like Oklahoma City. From the map, Chickasaw reservation started just south of the South Canadian River which flows south of Norman and Noble, so the boundary is close. Norman actually borders parts of Oklahoma City but most of our northern boundary is Moore of giant tornado fame. |

What I like to imagine is a resulting spurt of lawsuits that will reveal a lot more territory that legally belongs to the original inhabitants--maybe Seminoles taking over Miami, and Cherokees occupying Charlotte.... |

The Wampanoags may have more of a challenge reclaiming eastern Mass. and RI.
Where I am, the Sioux have a pretty strong case for the Black Hills, per the Treaty of Fort Laramie.
And all the gold, silver, and uranium that's been removed would add up to a tidy sum. |

Our Governor Stitt lost the lottery. He's the first US governor to test positive for Covid-19. He's been one of the mask-deniers, but wouldn't have caught it at the Trump rally unless he's been hiding it for a couple of weeks. He may have caught it from someone who caught it there. |

BTW does anyone have admin status here? I note we're now at 80,000 "registered users" and maybe 150 of those are actual members who've posted here. As a web admin elsewhere, I can tell you those other 79,850 accounts are fakes, set up by spammers. And, if an admin here would like to toggle me to admin permissions for one day, I can make them go away, clean up the member list, and block future fake accounts. Wouldn't it be nice to have our allocated storage be for more posts, instead of zillions of fake accounts? Maybe someone can forward this to Marc? |

Marc was just our slumlord.
Pretty sure Lorne retains overlord status.
And Chillywilly has admin privileges.
So best to contact one of them.
If you want admin privileges, I assume only Lorne could arrange that.
Chilly and Lorne rarely appear here, so if you want to be an admin instead of chilly, that would be good. Though probably should run that by Syd, since I think he's footing the bill here.
I think that's an accurate summation.
I didn't realize that the fake membership actually cost money/took up bandwidth. |

Lorne tried to set me up as admin and it didn't work. |

Bart is familiar with phpBB stuff.
He can probably hash something out with Lorne.
Best would be to remove Lorne and Chilly from the equation, and have one of you two be the Overlord and the other a regular admin.
Lorne would probably be willing to get that done, if it meant he could be permanently done with site administration here. |
