I think starting a non-religious religion is something I should try. I haven't been doing a damn thing for most of the last year. Thanks Joe, I certainly won't let schmucks in.

Let's see.....how about, Our Brief Life's Unholy Paradox.

I will preach that my unholy religion postulates more wild beliefs than any, and has fun coming up with one belief of our existence after another. My congregation will all take turns at preaching, but if their preaching isn't believably ridiculous and doesn't get any laughs, out they go until they come up with one that does get laughs. Three strikes and they are out for good. In our temple the men have to wear dunce caps and the women have to knock them off their head if they take any of the preaching seriously. Three knock off of the dunce caps banishes them for a month.

How many want to join the OBLUP?

Let me know when you have a good celebrity spokesperson. (Clooney would be appealing, or maybe Ryan Gosling.)

OK car, send me the email addresses of Clooney and Gosling. I was fan of Rosemary Clooney and Gosling is a Canadian so they would both be happy to join OBLUP.

If I had their e-mail addresses, why would I need you?

Gary - Your religion sounds pretty good. But what about the dietary laws? Can you institute all-bacon Tuesdays or something?

Anyone interested in the film Lincoln and the events leading up to the Emancipation Proclamation, might want to read about the Fremont Emancipation in 1861 a full year prior to Lincoln's EP.

Cool story. Another name from the past I knew nothing about.

My Type A stepson Eric Schaeffer has a new series featuring Dolores and me playing only slightly exaggerated versions of ourselves. Watch the first episode here (only about four minutes long; this is a web series, folks).

The slightly more R-rated trailer is also very funny IMO.

Dolores is hilarious! You're not too bad yourself, Mr. Weeden!

Lorne,

Hyah, Handsome. Since you're here, could you tell me where the specialty forums are. I have a friend who is interested in out noir discussion. Who knows, he might become a member. He is certainly a film buff.

I'm recruiting for a rival sect called the church of holy shit! (exclamation point included in name) The only tenet is that you must be amazed by the universe and respond to its unfolding wonders and mysteries, and occasional moments of sheer perversity, by giving the sacred litany which is, of course, "holy shit!...holy shit!...." It can also be used as a mantra, usually accompanied by swinging your arms in big circles and keeping a steady beat. It's a 4/4 chant, so it goes "Ho - ly - shit - [rest]..." and so on.

Bacon is welcome, since an early COHS prophet was Francis Bacon.

Maybe your celebrity could be Jon Hamm.

I'm with all three of Carol's choices. And since neither is ever going to happen, I feel secure about them.

I'll join you, Carol. But let me ask you one thing. Do you have to believe in God?
