That's a pretty good one.

Yeah it was a porn movie playing on 42nd St. They used to make up some great titles based on real movies. I wish I could remember more. I'm pretty sure the titles were better than the movies.

Even the porn movies he reviews without seeing them. The man is a marvel.

The Nanny State strikes again. The birthday food that the Bay Area schools have mandated is as my late mother would have said, "Strictly for vomiting."

We may already have these in Oklahoma. At least they're wireless.

Snow's fine. It's ice I'm worried about.

So what's with the Blanches? On or off and--if on--when?

Nope. When was it sent? And in what form? By regular email or what?

You mean that you missed the Tweeet?
Didn't get the irregualr email?

Just goofing around.

But if we don't have our ish together, there had been talk in the past of moving the Blanches later towards when more have seen all of the films released at the butt end of the year.
Not sure if there was enough momentum for that, but it is one possible path.

If I've still only seen half the nominees for the Oscars, I can imagine how uptodate people in OK, Nebraska and Arizona are.

The King's Speech
turned up today, but is probably a screener with poor English subs, so I decided to wait.
And if anyone has seen Blue Valentine, help me out with what is good in that film.

gromit--I think Blue Valentine is terrific, but I can easily understand being turned off by it. It's reminiscent of John Cassavetes movies, all of which I detest for their self-indulgence and self-consciously "realistic" acting, but there's something about the story of Blue Valentine that for me transcends all of Cassavetes.

The downward trend of this relationship is very sad and moving to me. These two people, neither of them an intellectual giant but both of them sensitive and caring people, start out having great sexual chemistry but very little else. As she realizes there's nothing else there, and he realizes he loves her and "their" child way beyond what he expected, the relationship falls apart. If you don't care about them--if you don't succumb to the way he treats the old man whose possessions he's moving, or the way he plays the ukulele, if you don't feel for her home situation or her self-esteem problems--then you're not going to get with the BV program. Then there's me. I get with it.

And of course, Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams are amazing.
