By the way, I'm accusing Earl of sleeping with everyone who belongs to the Acadamy in order to assure the win of Slumdog Millionaire in all major categories. |

But mainly for his shout-out to Mickey Rourke. |

New definition of anti-climax:
Sophia Loren delivers encomium to Meryl Streep. Living legend praises living legend.
THEN:
Nicole Kidman praises Angelina Jolie.
At this moment my admiration for the producer of the show fell several miles down the mountain slope.. |

That's what I meant by his compassion, actually. "You're my brother." What a guy. |

That was very special. Rourke obviously appreciated it. |

By the way, when did Shirley MacLaine give up being a redhead? |

Happy for Slumdog. Sad for Rourke. As much as I love Sean Penn and all that Milk stands for, Mickey Rourke's performance was one that will be remembered years after Penn's Milk is long forgotten. In The Wrestler, Rourke was more than just an actor, he was a force of nature, right up there with De Niro in Raging Bull, Brando in Last Tango, Nicholson in Cuckoo's Nest and Sean Penn in At Close Range. |

Marc said everything I feel as well. Penn gave a fine performance. Rourke was an indelible, iconic presence...as Marc says, "a force of nature."
Though I don't agree with all of Marc's other examples, the essence of his comment is completely accurate. |

Quite a while ago. For a woman about to turn 75, she looks mighty fine, though slightly Asian around the eyes. |

I guess I haven't seen her in the public eye for a long time. Agree she looks good, though also agree she apparently had a bad face lift. |

Haven't seen The Wrestler, so I can't really comment. But I'm not sure one performance can been deemed to last, the other deemed to be forgotten. |

I was elated he won. His performance was well deserved. The whole movie was great. |

I'm glad you mentioned MacLaine, otherwise I would have had to wonder if you really meant Sophia Loren. |

Ahem.
1) Reese Witherspoon cracks wise about actors having to be coaxed out of their trailers, adding, "You know who you are, Ben Stiller."
2) Ben Stiller had earlier done a scathing take on Joaquin Phoenix.
3) Witherspoon co-starred with Phoenix in Walk the Line.
4) Do the math. |
