Non sequiturially, what's the prohibitive campaigning thing? No ads here after nominations, before, during, when, where, what?

Am slightly blurred after a year's activity in another campaign realm altogether, presiding duties over the local dramatical critical spherical awardicals, and especially the incessant memos from SASSY and the newly formed Peripatetic Enclave of Nervy Nouveau Yahoos (PENNY).

I think some campaigning was attempted last year, and the offender was publicly eviscerated. Much like people who win the trivia questions but don't post a new questions.

It's a touch audience around here.

Oh, yes, it all comes flashing back, at least it wasn't me, who has issues with being touched.

And touchy, even.

I need to stop writing three emails and a post at once...

We had some "for your considerations" last year. I did one for "How Will You Know" for best song. Nancy did one for "Rock Me Sexy Jesus" (from Hamlet 2) for this year, and I've been campaigning for The Machine Girl in hope that someone else will watch the damned thing.

Which reminds me:

The machine gun prosthesis for best lead performance by an inanimate object.

Love "Rock Me Sexy Jesus." Had it on my voice mail until The Marvelous Wonderettes cast album appeared. The songs in Hamlet 2 seemed the best thing about Hamlet 2.

Melody was quick on the draw for Best Director this year....

I'll take the count for Cinematography this year.

I think inla already spoke up for cinematography.

Ahh.. I missed that post.

Then scratch that...

I'll take Best Song if it's still out there and open.

Since it's the 10th year of Blanches, maybe we should have a Blanche for a Blanche. Like "Best Blanche Poster" or "Best Category Presentation"

I like that idea, Chills! And since I did Best Picture 2003 (?), and then the whole Blanche 2004 as a graphic/animated presentation, I'm SO in the running for an award!

I'd like to thank the Academy...my puppy...

Oops, premature.

For Your Consideration:

My vote for new category goes to Editing, one of the hardest/most creative jobs in moviedom.

Film Editors are the unsung heroes of the film world. The ignorant hoi polloi of today's audiences have never actually tried to Edit a movie themselves and therefore have no idea of the thousands of synapses per second the Editor's brain is scanning, considering, discarding, choosing, rechoosing, redoing, special-effectsing....

Editors work in the dark. They can go months without seeing the sun or a home-cooked meal. They're pale, hopped up on bennies, nearly blind, extremely focused. Continuity errors send them into screaming fits, cursing the lowly script supervisor into blacklist hell.

Great Editing makes the handheld camera work in the Bourne movies exciting rather than nauseating. Documentaries owe their souls to Editors. As great as Scorsese is, he'd be lost without his Thelma.

Respect should be paid.

No wonder the great Michael Powell married Thelma! Gawd! Poor pale thing wasting away...hopped up on bennies...

Did Marty pimp out Thelma to get her a little nooky and away from that dreaded room????

Could be a great movie, no?

Editors certainly deserve recognition. I'd like to suggest a Best Costume design Blanche also.

Costume Design would be fun. I'll need some guidelines on how to judge this category, though. Originality? Flair? Best Use of Sequins? I'm clueless when it comes to what makes an outfit tick.
