Great idea. When? I'm good from about 3:30 to 7 today, for starters.

This week will be tough for me. The system I teach in goes into finals this week, while the one I tutor in is going into the week before finals. I'll be very busy, but I'd like to take part in the memorial.

syd,

Do you have any knowledge as to how Nancy died?

Not unless they decide to do an autopsy. We're guessing a heart attack or heart failure, or a blood clot from her leg hitting someplace vital. It does seem to have been quick.

I am thinking about making a contribution to the Society for Creative Anachronism in Nancy's name. If anyone else is interested (or if there's something else going on), let me know.

This can be done in Third Eye's name, although it's not a necessity and there is no pressure for anyone to contribute if things are tight (this is not a great period economically speaking, after all). I would just like to do something.

Anne's asked me to write an obituary. I'm going to have to do some searching for some of the information I need, like surviving relatives, when she graduated, and her father's name.

So will I.

Lady, what kind of contribution do you have in mind? And yes, I think it would be so fitting if it were in 3rd Eye's name.

Syd,

Do you know where Nancy went to High School? They would have those kinds of records. Perhaps if you don't, somebody else does.

Marj - I was thinking of some sort of cash donation (probably the easiest thing to put together). I just called the SCA and they gave me the info on what to do.

Also, if Anne (as the executor) would like to transfer the remainder of Nancy's membership to someone else, that can be done as well, although they need a written letter from the executor. Syd - I can contact you about this with more details. It would also be nice to send a writeup with any donation, so maybe we can coordinate with the obituary when you're done.

Marj: she went to high school in Ada, Oklahoma, but transferred to the Del City school system, and I'm trying to find out when she graduated. I know she had a degree in Anthropology from OU and I should be able to find from Anne when that was because they went to school together. I did get Nancy's father's name. I suspect the lawyers have her living next-of-kin, which are one or two uncles.

Nancy used to engage in combat for the SCA until she injured a shoulder. She could handle weapons better than a lot of the men.

Syd: I did a google search and learned there are 7 High Schools in Ada. I could save you some time and call them. It would help to know when she attended but I do know Nancy's birth date and that may be enough.

I don't know what the SCA is.

I have a few calls to make first so, I'll check back in about an hour. And if you'd like me to make these calls, just let me know.

SCA = Society for Creative Anachronism.

Marj: I've already contacted the school in Ada. She transferred from there to Del City in 1970. I have a call in to the school there.

It's likely Anne knows all this, since she and Nancy have known each other since the early seventies. That predates fandom, and maybe the SCA too.

I'm surprised that the school didn't have any of her personal information still on file. I'm assuming, Syd, that all of that went to the school in Del City.

And Lady, thanks.
