Delightful surprise: Seven Brides for Seven Brothers makes the cut.

Surprising revelation: Vertigo doesn't.

That's not to diminish any of gromit's work in doing this, I just don't really think the end product is totally representative of everyone that posts here. Whatevs. I'm having a bad week.

Just what on earth is so monumental about it? Wasn't it only 10 or 12 lists? I really wish everyone would have submitted one before the tally.

Putting 600 films in order?? No one else took on the job.

It would indeed have been very nice if more people had participated but they have only themselves to blame.

I guess you really are having a bad week... Sad

Besides our next project could be the REVISED TOP 100 LIST, but count me out.

Biggest surprise: no Kurosawa films at all.

I'm also surprised to see Mulholland Dr. in the top 10. The other films in the top 10 are films I expected to see in the top 30 anyway.

There were 15 lists altogether.
All but about 6 or 7 regulars, I think.
So 750 total votes, and 499 different films voted for.

Vertigo indeed should be high up. It received a number of high votes. I had meant to re-check if it received 3 or 4 votes, and must have forgotten. Will have to amend that.

I'll try to run a check or two for accuracy, by making sure all the films which received multiple votes made the list, along with checking perhaps the top five from each list.

Here's a revised and prettified list.
Ties are Abc-ed.
Director and year info removed, except where needed.
Vertigo tied for 12th.
I'll try to check for errors/omissions when I have a chance. Fortunately I saved every list in alphabetical order with weighted numbers (except the first 3), so it's easy to check back for any given film.

As Wallace might say, "Great work Gromit."

My what an eclectic list. I was glad to see Brazil just squeezing into the top 100.

gromit--I'm assuming Spellbound on the list is Hitchcock's thriller rather than the doc about spelling bees. Right?

No. It is what it is.

Great job with the list! Both by us (so few of the movies suck!) and of course gromit.

Well, the thread was up for a couple months, which is enough time to make a list if you are serious about making one. What, we're supposed to put a gun to someone's head, make them come up with a list?

I'm glad that last post started on a new page.

One observation, by a quirk of fate (and the lack of congruence between choices), it only took 49 points to make the 3rd Eye Top 100. Which means that everyone's 1st and 2nd choice made the list. It also appears that 6 people's top choice didn't make it on to anyone else's list. While the same fate befell 4 people's second favorite films.

Let me know if you find anything that looks off.

I'd be curious to know what films were chosen the most (regardless of rank) - this might point to a film's true popularity
