No it won't. I'm still in here banging my head against clothes hangers and tripping over shoes.
Why in hell didn't I put a light in here. |

Well, this was a surprise to come home to. Thanks Lorne.
It's especially timely since I just saw Dreamgirls. I've got to admit I was disappointed. But then I went into it knowing the story. My friend did not and really enjoyed it.
I thought some of the performances were very good, but the material was lacking and the direction pretty pedestrian. And this was one film that needed an editor ... big time.
The one nice surprise was Jennifer Hudson. Oh, I knew she could sing, but it was her acting that really surprised me. And I don't think the other actors have been given their due. Especially Jamie Foxx. |

Nope Gary. Musical movies are welcome here. As are other kinds of music besides rock and roll and crap. |

I'll attempt to mix in some rock and roll to this new forum.
Back in August 2000 during my first visit to NYC, I saw a show at the Plymouth Theatre called "Jekyll & Hyde", starring Sebastian Bach.
I enjoyed it very much and it remains, to this day, the only Broadway play that I have seen. Yes, I've seen other plays in other cities, but this was a cool experience. This is a web site from someone who saw one of the final performances with Bach.

Further viewing at the official site, it looks like it's still going on, this time in Denmark in March.

Jekyll & Hyde had its genesis at the Alley Theater in Houston. No one knew, when it went on to Broadway, if it was going to be a hit, and few people who saw it during that time could even have said whether it was any good because at each performance it was a entirely different show. |

I just received the following from NY Times Ticketwatch. I know nothing about it but if anyone is interested ....
And does anyone know anything about this play. I doubt I'll be able to see it but I am curious.
MARY ROSE
a play by J.M. BARRIE
directed by TINA LANDAU
Featuring: Betsy Aidem, Susan Blommaert, Ian Brennan, Michael
Countryman, Keir Dullea, Tom Riis Farrell, Darren Goldstein,
Paige Howard, Richard Short
The first major revival of J.M. Barrie's astonishing romantic
drama - a lyrical, funny and stirring story of a girl who
disappears only to return mysteriously with no memory of time
passed, setting off a heartbreaking and thrilling story of
love, loss, ghosts and the living, from the author of Peter
Pan. First performed in 1920, this delicate and haunting play
became a major obsession and inspiration for Alfred
Hitchcock, and has not been seen in New York for more than 50
years.

Has anyone seen the Nathan Lane "Butley"? Since it's my favorite movie (and the reason Alan Bates became my favorite actor), I went to Boston to see Lane's first effort at it a couple of years ago, and found it lacking. I never saw Bates do it onstage, but I had come out of the film theater hoping Butley would get his life back together. When I came out of the Boston theater, I didn't really care. Lane's Butley was occasionally amusing but mostly annoying.
Still, I've been tempted to go back and see it on Broadway before it closes, just to see if he's got a better grip on the complexities of my favorite character. I never expected him to be the equal of Sir Alan, but I did have some hope that he could handle the role competently. |

Does knowing the story of the Supremes count as knowing the story? |
