I have just finished reading Amos Judd, the book on which the lost Valentino silent film The Young Rajah is based.
Can you tell me where to get this book? It sounds good.
Thanks. |

BTW, the _Amos Judd_ book reminds me of a popular novel, _Ramona_, which was the basis for a famous silent film.
I read the novel a long time ago. It's a very enjoyable romance about the early days of Old Spanish California. |

Aw, man, that was comfort TV, with our whole family gathered. At age ten, living in NY, I decided that one day I would live in San Francisco. As it happened, a law school buddy of mine rented a room on Elm St, an alley behind City Hall. |

The show was definitely called simply Mama. |

Really Billy! IMO, he's a fine actor, btw. I have a friend that worked with him in the series, "I'll Fly Away." At least I think that's what it was called.
Going back to the film I Remember Mama, this film has stand out casting and photography. It really is a must see for any film buff. |

Thanks for that, Billy.
Marj,
I've never seen it. But I read Mama's Bank Account. Wonderful, in the same way as the movie of Meet Me in St. Louis (which was a series of stories collected as a book, too; but though I own it, I've never gotten past page 1). |

Marj and Joe--FYI the great Barbara Bel Geddes received her first (and I think her only) Oscar nomination (supporting) for playing Kristin (or is it Kirstin or Kirsten?) in I Remember Mama to Irene Dunne's Mama. |

Ellen Corby played Aunt Trina. Now there's a woman who's was listed as 'uncredited' in more than half the films she played in.
To think she finally found fame at last as Grandma Walton!
That was another good book/decent film - Spencers Mountain. (Although it did introduce us to "John Boy"!) |

That was another good book/decent film - Spencer's Mountain that got turned into the quintessential "family tv series" - Walton's Mountain. |

I don't see movies about somebody remembering someone. |

I'm not even sure I've see the movie at any rental store. One more reason to opt for Netflicks. Why does Irene Dunne sound wrong for the title role, to me? |

She absolute perfection Joe. I can't think of any actress of her time who could have done it better. |
