Our critic up here also liked it. He really didn't like The Lone Ranger, but I don't always trust his opinion anyway.

If good BO for "Pacific Rim" gives Guillermo enough capital and cred to make his Lovecraft project, I will go see it five times.

PACIFIC RIM has its moments but overall is overlong and the action repetitive.
Excellent use of 3D.

Staying true to the new approach to content in CURRENT FILM, Gary gives us a review of a review. Terrific.

And you give us a review of the reviewer. More terrific.

Gonna see The Lone Ranger this coming Monday. In the meantime, nada--except the dreaded (by you) Netflix and television shows.

Marc--Do I get any points whatsoever for having the title roles in two current film festival features?

(One premieres Thursday night in Calabria, Italy. The other premiered last month in Hong Kong. Sorry I can't attend the former and couldn't attend the latter.)

I've seen This Is The End, Frances Ha and just this afternoon, The Lone Ranger.

I will give a review of them later. I didn't dislike any of them.

Want to see Frances Ha. No desire to see Pacific Rim.

I've cancelled my Netflix streaming membership. The movie choices are shit and not worth the price.

Totally untrue. Some of the best movies I have seen in recent months have been under-the-radar selections from Netflix. You probably didn't know where to look. There's a website called www.instantwatcher.com that provides some of the best choices, and if you go on Netflix's website they will make suggestions based on what kind of films you like.

Just noticed today that Quartet and Encore, two Somerset Maughm collections, are available. So is A Late Quartet, the pretty new movie with Walken and others as a string quartet. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Not worth the price? Wrong.

Netflix has gotten progressively better with its selection of indie, arthouse and foreign films. Thank god they exist or some films would go completely unseen. And their original programming is pretty damn cool. ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK is a shitload of fun.

Two movies I never heard of, The Loneliest Planet and The Details, are absolutely memorable. Netflix streaming.

I still have my two-disc plan as well as streaming. However, most of my recent streaming has been on Huluplus.
