Since "Dexter" and the "Being Human" remake, a fixed place on the Dream Squeeze Hotties list. He's quite talented, to boot. But even if he weren't, well, sigh, swoon, gives me the vapors, tee-hee. |

I liked Robot & Frank.
Nothing exceptional, but would be a good film to randomly catch on cable.
Fairly straightforward, but a few unexpected moments, along with a few moments that made it seem like the pilot to a new TV series. I didn't care for the son and daughter much -- both the characters and actors were lacking. And the neighbor/victim was worse on both counts. I thought it amusing that Susan Sarandon's sexy librarian looked like Sarah Palin, especially in the earlier scenes.
The film had a nice pace to it, and when it got a little silly, didn't go off the tracks, and managed to circle back into personal issues. I'd put R&F a little ahead of Safety Not Guaranteed and Exotic Marigold Hotel, maybe the two films from 2012 it resembles in part. |

Yeah, I'd rank it similarly. Peter Sarsgaard does good robot voice, too. Did not catch the Sarah Palin resembling, but will BOLO when I view this again.
Langella has a longterm penchant for weird roles - he was the sea monster in the original run of the Albee play, Seascape. And a monster of a different sort in The 9th Gate. I really enjoy watching him in about anything. |

Yeah, Langella and Saaarsgaaard were good, and since they are the crux of the film, it's a bit silly of me to leave them out of my review. I just couldn't really think of what to say about them -- and am still kind of blanking on how I would evaluate them or their characters.
Billy, just c&p any acronym or abbreviation you don't know and let google tell you what it means. Will work for all but the most idiotic shortcuts ...

It was selected as the Australian entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards.
Lore is a 2012 Australian-German war film written by Robin Mukherjee, co-written and directed by Cate Shortland and funded by the UK Film Council. |
