Welcome to the 7th Annual Blanche Awards for the 2005 year in film. Here's how it works, and when:
Part 1 is the nomination process. Simply choose your personal top 3 picks in the category being voted on and post your choices online (ex: "My Top 3 Actors - Steven Seagal, Rob Schneider, Jimmy Fallon). Third Eye members can submit three nominees in any or all categories, which will then be counted by the appropriate volunteer.
We will begin taking nomination votes with the first two categories on January 18th, Wednesday.
Part 2 is the announcement of our final list of nominess. This will be done after all the categories have been voted on and counted. The top 5 vote-getters in each category become our official nominees for the 2006 Blanche Awards. The official list of Blanche nominees will be announced Friday, February 24th.
Part 3 is the actual award voting. Members can vote for one of the 5 official nominees by privately emailing the appropriate volunteer. Remember - you're now voting for which of the 5 nominees you feel should win the award. Voting and counting is done secretly, with only the volunteers knowing the outcome of their individual categories.
Award voting begins Saturday, February 25th, with all votes needing to be in by midnight EST Tuesday, March 1st.
The 7th Annual Blanche Awards will be presented in a ceremony taking place online in this forum, Friday evening, approximately 8:00pm EST, March 3, 2006.
For a quick reference, here is a list of all films released in 2005:

Our Volunteer Vote Tabulators
First of all, thanks to all of you guys. It's not tons of work, but it is essential that it be coordinated and accurate. Here's the list of who's responsible for what:
Billy - Best Supporting Actor
Sioux - Best Supporting Actress
Dlhavard - Best Song
Syd - Best Cinematography
Nancy - Best Documentary
? - Best Score
Melody - Screenplay
Ghulam - Best Foreign Film
Shannon - Best Actress
Chilly - Best Actor
Yambu - Best Director
Kate - Best Picture
Rod's departure left us one counter short, so I'm still looking for a Best Score volunteer.
- Ties are decided first by a tie-breaker vote that continues for another day, or if not, then by the volunteer's decision to include a 6th official nominee on the list. Your call.
- As much as possible DON'T GIVE AWAY THE RESULTS!! Part of the fun is in the Presentation (capital "P"), so DON'T drop hints about who's leading the vote! And unlike last year, the top 5 nominations will be announced Friday, February 24 - not before! Hold onto the results until then! You can email me the results earlier so I can prepare the Nomination Poster, but the nominees for every category will be revealed publicly at the same time by all volunteers on that evening (we'll agree on a good time for all).
- Actual Blanche Award winners will be emailed to me privately after voting ends midnight Wednesday, March 3rd. I need a couple of days to prepare all the graphics for the award presentation Friday night.
You can email me with any questions. Thanks again. |

Lorne--Thank you so much for the new rule about no-announcement of the leading candidates. This will avoid the outright politicking that has damaged previous Blanche campaigns. |

Is it appropriate to discuss our preferences in this forum? It was a year ago and I can't remember what we agreed. |

Lorne, nice job on the poster! But what is that thing sticking out of Viggo's chest?
Also, my category is Best Screenplay, not just your ordinary run-o'-the-mill Screenplay.
I think campaigning for your choices is okay up until voting begins. After that, it's just not right. |

It is not appropriate to discuss any preferences in any of these fine fora.
Unless it is the preference of your favorite moderator.
So sing my praises and vote for me, lest ye be smited. |
