I'm pretty psyched about this assignment. Having never seen it before. I've heard all of the HUAC conjecture, too. Hopefully, Netflix™ can get it to me before the weekend. |

some early zinneman like "the search", "act of violence" and "the men" is going to be tough to find. i've checked both AMC and TCM and none are scheduled for this month tho both AofV and search played in may.
i'm going to bid on a copy of "the men" at ebay. if i win, i don't mind making some copies to be passed around. but this is going to be time consuming.. high noon is pretty much available to rent. i guess we'll just have to start with the later stuff and move back. |

This is undeniably true. In fact, "Act of Violence" is not available on video at all. And despite what someone said about "The Search" being on all the time, the opposite is true. I've been trying to see it for literally decades, and the first time I got a chance was last week. Is it available on video? I haven't checked. This is going to hurt us unless someone comes up with a solution. Otherwise we'll be stuck analyzing "Oklahoma!"--scarcely prime pickings for a Zinnemann forum.
We'll handle it, never fear, but we need to think. |

Unquestionably true. But still... |

Here's the deal, I have The Search on VHS and can make copies for people. However, there's no way in hell I can make 58 or so copies. Do we want to get a copying list going? Something like, I'll make 5 copies and those 5 people will make 4 or 5 copies and so on and so on?? I certainly don't mind making 5 and sending them out. Maybe then, we could shoot for The Search being our 3rd or 4th focused film. |

Unfortunately, I don't think I can get my hands on HN before the weekend. I will still get it and then come very late to the party. |

Good suggestion, Ehle. I don't have a second VCR, myself, so I can't make a copy for anyone. |

Ehle,
That is a very nice offer on making copies of The Search for us. I don't have copying capabilities, either, but would love to receive a copy that I'd then be happy to pass on to someone else. |

ehle...
i'd be willing to make some copies. we would need a sign up list of who wanted them and, of those, who else would be willing to distribute. god, i love a good pyramid scheme! |

Right. Sorry we can't all watch it before then, but that's gonna happen more than once with this kind of deal. |

Yeah, Netflix™ is shipping High Noon out to me tomorrow, so I probably won't be seeing it until the earliest, Monday night.
The suggestions regarding The Search sound good. Should we take this off-list? Or, try and work something out here. I'm committed to 5 copies to 5 committed viewers and/or copiers. |
