Thanks Billy! I look forward to a great discussion on High Noon.

Do any of you have any links we could go to read up on Mr. Z, get some historical/biographical info? (Just me being anal again.)

Sorry, it does not work. Does anyone know why some links work and others don't?

High Noon it is. I'm looking forward to seeing Cooper it's been a while.

No one has mentioned the McCarthy era implications regarding HIGH NOON. I don't have time to check it out at the moment, but I'm pretty sure I've read about them. They are in the vein of 'man of principle stands up for what's right, no one will help him.'

A few items from imdb.com confirms my statement above. Other interesting points listed below - esp. the info. about Floyd Crosby achieving a 'hot' look to the visuals.
------------------------
from imdb.com
* Produced by Stanley Kramer, and directed by Fred Zinnemann, High Noon was used as an allegory in Hollywood for those who stood up to HUAC by refusing to cooperate with their blacklisting efforts.

* 'John Wayne' complained that this film was an unpatriotic portrayal of the Old West.

* This film has been screened more times at the White House than any other.

* The director wanted a hot stark look to the film. Floyd Crosby achieved this look by not filtering the sky and having the prints made a few points lighter than normal.

Isn't Floyd Crosby related to David Crosby [CSN](his father or grandfather?)

Father, I'm almost certain. And of course Tex Ritter sings the title tune. So what do John Ritter and David Crosby have in common?
