It's interesting to notice the difference between Oscar critics and Tony critics. About half the reviews I've read put down, or gently chided, Jackman for not being able to deliver a joke, and seem to have taken his performance for frentic and good-natured-but-not-quite-acceptable. People loved him at the Tonys. Guess that's the difference between the ego-worshiping bitches at the Ocars and the give-110%-worshipping bitches at the Tonys.  |

I thought it was an entertaining Oscar show, and I was glad to see them try something different. Sure, some things didn't work, but an awful lot did, and often was inspired (having past winners praise the nominees, who were in the front row must have taken some of the sting out of being one of the 80% of nominees who lost; maybe they should have had five directors show up). The staging looked really interesting. I'm glad I recorded the show so I can see some of the details. Certainly, it seemed less stiff than in previous years.
Most of the carping seems to be over minor stuff. Jackman was a fun and energetic host who burned up quite a few calories. The show moved very well for the most part, and must have been a blast to the attendees. |

I have experienced that pain numerous times. But like I said - and has been questioned here - it really isn't a reason to feel sorry for a guy who had the night of his life and seems to have a renewed reason for the future. |

OK, y'all. Loki lived to the ripe old age of 18 or 19 and had had a good, full life. Plus Mickey has other dogs that he adores.
I'm sure he took Loki's passing in his stride...and let's face it, Mickey had A LOT to be happy about!

| I was a bit under the weather after the Oscar party, so I didn't post this earlier. Just wanted to thank Lorne for the fantastic posters, and thank the counters for their efforts. I was particularly glad to see that "Rock Me Sexy Jesus" got the Best Song Blanche! (BTW, I want to keep the Best Song category, but I think we should drop Best Score. I hardly ever notice scores anyway, and it would allow us to add another category, maybe Editing or Copstume Design. Any opinions?) |

By the way, sorry that I'm only just now seeing your post, but I'm getting caught up with this thread tonight. I had to leave the Blanche ceremony early last night because of a cold that had been hitting me hard all weekend. After my one early post about the Ledger/Kapoor tie in the Blanches, I shut down and watched all the red carpet and Oscar stuff from the sofa, a box of tissues within arm's reach. The relaxation did me good; I felt well enough to go to work today. |

Naturally I'd be very enthusiastic about Art Direction and Costume Design. Editing sounds good, too. |
