Gotta say that one of the greatest times I ever had at a ball game was in Cleveland. That was, I think, in 1985. 1985? I assume you had the stadium to yourself. |

WOOOOOO
HOOOOOO!
First W.S. clincher in Fenway since 1918. Take that, Babe!
(Game Six, in 1975, remains my favorite Sox moment, however - Carlton Fisk's extra innings homer over the Green Monster - then pandemonium...) |

Toronto Mayor Ford has been front page news (in Toronto for sure), for about a year. One supposed bad actvity after another and then someone, whom I think was arrested, tried to sell a video that he had, which is what you just saw. I guess the cops found it.
Ford is, as always, saying that he never did this or that and plans to stay in office and run again when his term is over.
In my distant perception, I think both sides stink. |

Now I hear he fessed up to smoking crack. And many expect he will win the next election. Wow, maybe he should post videos of himself snorting coke from hooker's navels - might be good for a boost in the polls.
Happy 100th to ALBERT CAMUS! A man I much admire. Reading him at a critical juncture in my life, reminded me to make decisions about my chosen work consciously, and not be led along by unconscious prejudices and wishes. |

I know I clicked on a Camus centennial article earlier, but can't find it now.
Marion Barry not only got caught smoking crack, but went to jail, came out and was re-elected mayor -- all within a 4 or 5 year span.
Let's see the Toronto mayor beat that! |

He may. Just heard they've turned up a video where Ford is raving and cursing and saying how he wants to kill somebody who offended his family. I see a Rob Ford biopic in the future, perhaps with Nick Cage starring: Bad Mayor: Port of Call, Toronto.
Where's the Camus party? I want to go. The Stranger, The Fall, The Plague - some of the most insightful lit ever penned. |

Marc - Beautiful tribute and a great read. Glad to hear it's gotten some A-list attention. This line is hilarious: "I wasn’t interested in music that soothed the savage breast, I wanted to write savage music about breasts..." |

LMAO! Call Werner Herzog! I've seen pictures of Ford - Nic would have to put on some serious poundage. I can actually picture Drew Carey (old version) as looking more like the crazy-train mayor, but he's gone and lost 80 pounds or something phenomenal like that and looks quite trim now.
The Star had a piece this morning, describing an interview with his wife and sister - they sound clueless and enabling. One of them said something, "He's got a problem: a weight problem." AYFKM? That's it? A weight problem? Both women denied he was an addict or alcoholic. One of them said that when he likes to drink, he likes to "go full-tilt." Yeah, I'll say. |

Happy birthday, Gary. It was also Rorschach's birthday yesterday. May all your inkblots resemble genitalia! |

Watching the Toronto mayor is becoming quite the spectacle of human degradation. Yesterday's press conference had some real gems - his use of the phrase "eating p---y" (in a denial that he had eaten a staffer's nether area) and his colorful reassurance that he had "plenty to eat at home." And then his insistence that he is "a role model for children." I expect that professional comedians will be studying this man for generations to come. Kind of sad for him, and for the city of Toronto. |
