Bugsy is one of my favorite films too. Not for nothing is the wit and danger of the film spot on. Tilt it too much in either direction and it would have been too much. That alone makes it too much of an accomplishment to make it just a guilty pleasure. Though, of course, it is.

It DID get too much, when he was wearing that stupid chef's hat. I wanted to reach up and knock it off the screen.

Somehow I've been on a Asia Argento kick.I tried to do a search here but i couldn't find anything so I'm posting it here.
I had seen A Travelling Campanion a while back. The story of a young woman accompanying an old man through his journey. When a friend asks her to help her follow her retired father, who is, they think,is in the first stages of the onset of Alzheimer's disease, she accepts the job because of the good pay. Little does she realize her life is about to be changed .It was a very touching movie for me.

Last night I watched the autobiographical movie "Scarlet Diva" I thought the opening scene was sexy and raw.She falls in love with a rock n roll star, does drugs, gets used as a sex object, by disgusting Hollywood producers and then she finds out she's pregnant..The film is shot on digital video and it's Asias directorial debut. It's choppy and the acting is..not good, shall I say.But I liked the troubled, darkness and the feel of the movie. And Asia is a Hot chick!

I also watched "Boarding Gate" by Assaya. I had no idea what was going on for a while but it kicked in as the story evolved. An ex-prostitute?Asia is the ex-lover of a struggling businessman and she needs money to open a club in Bejing.she goes through hell, a lot of trouble,a shady couple , there's murder, mystery and sex and great shots in Hong Kong and Asia's bod. Oh also Kim Gordon speaking Chinese(Cantonese?)
I just like Asia Argento for her portraying troubled women..who are trouble; in her punkish and sexy I don't give a shit attitude.

and for those who may not know, Asia's name is pronounced ozia (ahhzia). I have heard people pronounce it like Americans pronounce the continent.

Yes, she's amazing. Check out The Last Mistress directed by the phenomenal Catherine Briellat.

She loves to be photographed naked. And I don't have a problem with that.
She's fearless.

Unbelievable. The Last Mistress has not been released on DVD in the USA. I bought an import dvd of the film over a year ago.

Marc--I have read Pictures at a Revolution and liked it too. Godard comes off like a pretentious asshole and a total user.

gromit--I too love Five Against the House, but am concerned that you didn't mention the fact (IMO) that the movie is stolen by the always underappreciated Brian Keith, a seriously gifted character comedian who also had considerable sex appeal in his stocky way.

Great series of posts. I have a number of things I want to comment on, but I've had a long day and I'm bushed. Hope to blather my opinions tomorrow.

That's weird..So they won't even have it at that video store? I think Netflix has
B Monkey and The Heart is deceitful Above All things (reviews say it's unwatchable) Did anyone see these ?
